Hello Loves, how’re we all feeling? I hope you all had a magical Christmas surrounded by friends and family. If you are like me, after the hustle and bustle of Christmas and the anticipation of New Years, you might now be feeling a little underwhelmed by the cold grey skies and are now waiting with bates breath for the sun to come out. I totally understand, it’s tricky to stay motivated and joyful when the sun only says hello once a week and you have about 5 pence left in your wallet. So I thought I might hop in here to share a few rays of sunshine 🌞
1. Use this season as a time to slowdown, reflect and re-charge your energy. As humans we are made to bend and flow with the seasons. Winter is a time to hibernate, rest and plan your next moves. It’s ok to just sit. Embrace the art of doing nothing.
2. Soups and Stews are key for staying warm, feeling satisfied and they’re SO cheap to make!! Grab yourself a mixture of root vegetables 🥕, some garlic, turmeric, ginger and thyme (brilliant for keeping your immune system in check, fighting off colds and flus) chop them up, throw them all together in a pot 🥘 (or a slow cooker if you need to nip out) and cook until soft. Tip: Adding a protein like beans, chickpeas or tofu to the mix help to make you feel fuller for longer. Serve with your favourite carb. 🥖
3. If you’re out and about in Truro or working near by, Nourish Eatery is open 10-3 Wednesday to Saturday throughout January for affordable, delicious food to eat in or take away. We have books, WiFi, colouring activities and lots of herbal teas. Please come and visit if you need some warmth to get you through the cold winter.
4. Public libraries 📚 are one of the only places you can get something brilliant FOR FREE. Again it’s warm, you can use the computers, brows the shelves, sit and enjoy the quiet or ask a member of staff for a library card so you can read it in the comfort of your own home. You don’t have to pay a penny. These kind of luxuries are few, so make good use of them.
5. Pubs often have an open fire, free WiFi, charging sockets and board games. Make use of the low seasons, support your local and spend some just being. ❤️
Stay joyful xx
