Time for an honest post… as a very private person, one I’ve held off on making…. However it has to be done as it’s having such a negative effect on my business…. For a business who says ‘coffee without the bullshi*t…. I’ve been bullsh*ttinf all sorts of stories as to why Troon has been so all over the place for a few years now.
Scattered opening hours, potential shop closures, some really poor service overall.
This is NOT a pity party post…. At ALL… however some truths.
As the sole owner of the business it’s hard enough overseeing 3 shops, Roastery, markets, online sales and so on.
Over the last few years some constant health issues have prevented me from being able to do as much as required to run all of this and Troon had been affected the most due to its location (being based in Glasgow personally). This issue affects my travel massively!
The issues with my health were kinda hidden by the amazing Management Team we had working full time for me in the shop…. Amazing people.. they know who they are. They moved on to different areas and career paths which was a major loss.. never been able to replace them.
Our Part Time Supervisors have done an amazing job whilst juggling University to help where they can. They have kept the shop going.
I’d say over the last year, We were seriously considering closing the Troon shop…. I physically can’t do the travelling now and thus the scattered opening hours…. Not due to focusing on my other shops, not due to me taking extended days off or holidays (still work 7 days and I love my job), and definitely not down to not giving a sh*t about Troon.. I love this shop which is why I’ve kept it going.
We had honest conversations with the staff along the way and our 2 Supervisors are going to be helping out more over the festive period and January.
We have plans for January and we WILL get Troon back to where it was.
Milngavie and our Southside Shop have obviously been affected also.. but we have a great full team there who have worked with me for such a long time…. Thank you to all team members for holding down the fort.
Ran out of excuses for why we randomly close early…. Main reason for this post lol.
