Max may only be 29, but he’s a very talented cook who grew up in fish & chip shops and learned the trade properly. Whether he’s watching the fryer or the cameras, that experience means standards stay the same all day, every day.

Consistency doesn’t come from timers — it comes from knowledge, practice, and pride in the job.

Chippy Myths – Busted 🍟

❌ Myth: Chippy vinegar is real vinegar
✅ Truth: What you get in most chippies isn’t technically vinegar — it’s a Non-Brewed Condiment.

So why do we use it?

Because it was created specifically for fish & chips. It gives that sharp, salty kick people love, without overpowering the food, and it works better on hot chips than traditional brewed vinegar.

It’s lighter in colour, more consistent, and doesn’t brown the chips — which is why it’s been a chippy staple for decades.

Call it vinegar, call it chippy vinegar — either way, it wouldn’t be fish & chips without it.

Scampi explained 🍤

Not all scampi is the same.

👉 Cheap scampi is usually made from chopped-up bits of langoustine, pressed back together and bulked out with fillers.
It’s soft, mushy and cheaper to buy.

👉 Whole-tail scampi is the real thing.
Proper langoustine tails, natural shape, firm bite and proper flavour — lightly breaded, not mashed.

We only use whole-tail scampi because if we’re putting it on the menu, it’s got to be right.
