Today we mourn the passing of one of the greatest sons of our Valley and Wales, R Leighton Davies QC. On behalf of all the HSS family, we send our love and deepest condolences to all the Davies family.

Here’s a image of Leight leading a debate at HSS on the cause and effect of the Aberfan disaster. We were so proud that one of the greatest minds and orators that Wales has ever produced, was one of our own in the Rhondda. RIP brawd x

Breaking News......UN intervenes to resolve long running Valleys dispute

News overnight from the Rhondda, the long running impasse between the residents of Cwmparc and Treorchy regarding the border between the villages has been resolved - with each side claiming victory.

Last October, senior UN negotiators, Dan De Lion and Bert Dock, were spotted in Dom’s cafe in Station Road. An unnamed source claimed that the UN negotiators met representatives from both the Cwmparc Liberation Army (CLA) and the Treorchy Workers’ Party (TWP), as well as residents who have been in a no-man’s or -woman’s land, unsure where they actually lived.

Over a steamed pie at Dom’s, the UN negotiators brokered a compromise deal, one that will see the creation of a new village. Straddling the area from Clive’s Garage in Cwmparc to the Stag pub in Treorchy, the new village will be called CWMPORCI.

Local resident Gwenllian Corgi-Crachach, told us “I for one am proud to say I’m from Cwmporci. We have our own chip shop, theatre, railway station, secondary school and park. It’s like Cowbridge, but better. I’ve even heard that Bagsy is doing a T shirt celebrating our lovely new village”.

A Welsh Government spokesperson confirmed that “whilst we are grateful to the UN for the resolution of this issue, we wish to reiterate that, until the rules are relaxed, the consumption of steamed pies remains strictly prohibited in Wales”.

We’ve had some fab St David’s Day celebrations at your High Street Social over the years, but nothing beats the sheer joy of the live performance yesterday evening, so passionately delivered by Sion Tomos Owen, assisted by his awesome socially distanced roadie Jack Davies.

The set, which has been watched by over 2000 people (that’s three times the capacity of the Parc and Dare!), is available to view online on our FB page.

Thanks to all of you from across Wales and the U.K., and from California to New Zealand, who helped to make it such a fantastic session.
