We roast our own coffee using a traditional Italian wood roaster, fired with locally sourced wood here in Totnes. Our caffè serves coffee we’ve roasted ourselves, alongside fresh focaccia sandwiches, brunch, and cakes — all baked by us. You’ll also find Italian sweet treats from The Curator Bakery, made with care using local ingredients.

The end of August.

The August bank holiday has been and gone, which always feels like the beginning of the end of summer to us… though we’re not wishing it away just yet.

It has been very hot and, at times, a difficult summer. But it has been lovely to see so many of you having your morning coffees with us, meeting for lunch and coming along to our sunset parties.

We know that every coffee and every lunch is a choice, especially at the moment. We never take that for granted. Your support helps us look after our team, keep our prices as fair as we can and continue doing things properly.

We’re extremely grateful to everyone who has spent part of their summer with us.

From all of us here, thank you so much. And may the coming season treat us well.

This Saturday, we’re bringing a little taste of Italy to the South Hams.

Inspired by Ferragosto, Italy’s much-loved tradition of gathering with family and friends over great food, good wine and long summer evening, we’re inviting you to join us for a relaxed evening in the orchards.

Italian-inspired BBQ, seasonal salads, a handpicked selection of natural wines by Gennaro, local beer and cider, a welcome Aperol Spritz on arrival and laid-back DJ sets as the sun sets over Heron Valley.

This is a family-friendly evening, so bring everyone along. Whether you’re gathering around the table with loved ones, catching up with friends or simply making the most of a summer evening, we’d love you to join us.

Artist Spotlight: Gez Taylor

When we began renovating our Plymouth Market Caffè, removing the old wallpaper revealed a glazed ceramic seascape with a long-haired mermaid at its centre.

We shared photographs locally and were met with memories from people who had seen the mural as children. Eventually, its artist came forward. Gez Taylor had painted it in his Plymouth studio more than forty years earlier, during a career that took him from the Bath Spa Hotel to Rome and Barbados.

We’re now presenting Gez’s personal paintings publicly for the first time. Dreamlike and intuitive, the works are shaped by memory, music and a deeply felt sense of spirituality.

The exhibition is showing at The Curator at The Square, Civic Square, Totnes, until 2 September.
