Emergency Services Battle Treherbert Wildfire In The Rhondda As It Spreads 🚨🔥

Emergency services and specialist wildfire crews are continuing efforts to bring an active wildfire under control above Corbett Street in Treherbert.

Crews are working in challenging conditions as they tackle the fire, with the response operation requiring part of the area to be closed to vehicles to allow emergency personnel and equipment to operate safely.

Residents in the surrounding area and motorists are being urged to take extra care and avoid the affected route wherever possible. The top section of Corbett Street is currently completely blocked while emergency services deal with the incident.

Drivers are particularly advised not to attempt to travel up the road towards the closure. Vehicles that continue to the top may find themselves unable to turn around, potentially leaving them with no option but to reverse back down the street.

The closure is also intended to help keep members of the public away from the immediate area and ensure emergency crews have sufficient space to access and deal with the wildfire.

Anyone travelling through Treherbert is encouraged to plan an alternative route and follow any instructions or temporary restrictions put in place by emergency services.

The situation remains ongoing, and motorists are asked to avoid the area unless access is essential.
