📣 Exciting Announcement!
I’m incredibly proud to share that I will be taking over as the new leaseholder of the Thorne Memorial Park Café!
After a thorough and competitive selection process led by Thorne-Moorends Town Council, I’m honoured to have been chosen to bring new life to this much-loved community café. Many of you may know me from The Lakeview Café at the Delves, and I’m excited to bring the same passion for great food, friendly service, and community spirit to Thorne Memorial Park.
I truly believe in the power of local spaces to bring people together, and I’m committed to creating a welcoming, vibrant café that reflects the heart of our community.
We’re currently working hard behind the scenes to get everything ready, and I can’t wait to welcome you all very soon. Thank you for your continued support — and stay tuned for updates on our opening day!
See you soon at the Park!

EXCITING NEWS – THORNE MEMORIAL PARK CAFÉ LEASE AWARDED!
Thorne-Moorends Town Council is thrilled to announce that the lease for the Thorne Memorial Park Café has now been officially awarded, marking an exciting new chapter for this much-loved community space.
This follows a thorough and competitive tender process, designed to ensure the very best outcome for our park and residents. The process was overseen by a dedicated Working Parties made up of ten individual Town Councillors in total, demonstrating the Council’s commitment to fairness, transparency, and robust decision-making. Proposals were carefully evaluated against clear criteria, and we are pleased to say that the successful applicant scored an outstanding 80%.
We’re delighted to reveal that the new leaseholder will be Haydar Dirik, a familiar name to many from The Lakeview Café at the Delves. Haydar brings a wealth of experience, a passion for community hospitality, and a clear vision for making the café a vibrant, welcoming space once again.
The Council formally resolved to award the lease at its Extraordinary Full Council Meeting on Tuesday 17th June 2025, and we are now in the early stages of completing the legal arrangements and preparing the café for reopening. Both Haydar and the Council are committed to getting the café back up and running as soon as possible, ready to serve the local community and park visitors once again.
We look forward to seeing this valued local asset open once again and we wish Haydar every success in bringing this wonderful facility back to life.
