As we approach October at Thornbury Castle, it is all about cosy afternoons sitting in front of the open fires, and of course Halloween! 🕸️

The castle really comes into its own during this season, with carved pumpkins adorning the castle entrance in a variety of ghoulish designs and candlelit evenings spent steeped in history – if only these walls could talk. Flavours from the season are used at dinner service from swede and cinnamon to dark chocolate and red w**e – a lot of the produce is grown here on-site in our Garden Kitchen. There’s plenty of Halloween-inspired things to do in the area like visiting a local pumpkin patch, spine-tingling tours or visiting the Witch of Wookey at the eerie caves of Wookey Hole.

– Full English breakfast
– Hot drink and shortbread on arrival

On Saturday 10th October, join us for a right royal Murder Mystery! 🔎 Immerse yourself into the intrigue of the Royal Tudor Court with this wonderfully atmospheric Tudor dining experience.

Step into Henry VIII’s world to help solve the mystery surrounding the suspicious death of his only living son, Henry Fitzroy, the boy who could have been King. Henry has ordered this investigation to be held at Thornbury Castle, a place he loves and which holds fond memories. His right hand man Thomas Cromwell has gathered together the most likely suspects. This film was made for the big screen and even better under the grandeur of Thornbury Castle at night. This will be a ticketed event, with a BBQ, refreshments, and snacks available.

An original musical inspired by the life of P.T. Barnum, starring Hugh Jackman. Barnum was a visionary who rose from nothing to create the “Greatest Show on Earth”, a spectacle and celebration of his larger-than-life imagination that captivated audiences around the globe.
