🚴 Pedal to the Pad – Yorkshire Air Ambulance 🚁

We’re very happy to share this for Yorkshire Air Ambulance and help spread the word about their Pedal to the Pad cycling challenge on Saturday 3rd October 2026.

Starting from the new Northern Airbase at Skipton Bridge, riders can choose between a 30-mile route finishing in Malton or take on the 102-mile challenge to the Nostell Airbase. 🚴‍♀️💪

Every rider will be helping to raise vital funds to keep Yorkshire Air Ambulance saving lives across our region, with a £200 minimum fundraising target.

Behind Every Goodbye: The People Who Help Make It Happen

Planning a funeral and wake can involve so many different people, decisions and moving parts, all at a time when families are grieving.

In this piece, I’ve written about the funeral directors, celebrants, crematorium teams, venues and local businesses who quietly work together behind the scenes to help make a difficult day run as smoothly as possible.

I’ve also shared some of our own experience from hosting wakes at Maple Park, including advice on numbers, making a wake personal, and why there really is no right or wrong way to say goodbye.

One of the biggest themes is something I strongly believe in: good local businesses supporting one another ultimately helps the wider community too.

❤️ Plates with Purpose: How Community Is Built Around the Table ❤️

Our recent Plates with Purpose evening at Maple Park Café was about much more than food.

It was about people coming together, supporting Hambleton Foodshare, donating what they could, buying tickets, helping behind the scenes, and showing what community can look like when everyone plays a small part.

I’ve written a blog about the evening, from the planning with Pauline Garnett and Hannah at Business Bloom Media / The Creative Studio, to the work of Hambleton Foodshare, the challenge of serving a full room from our tiny café kitchen, and the family effort that made the night possible.

Community doesn’t happen by accident. It is built through hard work, generosity, kindness and people choosing to show up.

❤️ Plates with Purpose — thank you ❤️

What a wonderful evening we had at Maple Park Café for Plates with Purpose, raising funds for Hambleton Foodshare.
A huge thank you to everyone who joined us, bought tickets, donated food, helped spread the word and supported the evening. It was so lovely to see the room full, people enjoying good food, w**e and entertainment, and our community coming together for such an important local cause.

Thank you to Hambleton Foodshare for the vital work they do, to Business Bloom Media / The Creative Studio for helping bring the event together, and to everyone who played a part in making the evening so special.

A special thank you also to everyone who donated food in the run-up to the event — your generosity really does make a difference to local families facing hardship.
