We’re back open today as usual.

If you’re looking to make the most of this sunshine, join us for Sunday lunch in the courtyard before settling in for an afternoon of live music.

This afternoon we’re delighted to welcome Juniper Blue, bringing relaxed acoustic favourites to the courtyard from 5:30pm–7:30pm.

With our beautiful courtyard garden, fresh Sunday roasts and local beers and ciders on tap – including Silly Moo Cider, Hepworth Blonde and Wave Catcher IPA – it’s the perfect way to spend a summer Sunday.

If you’d like to join us for lunch before the music, we’d recommend booking your table.

Today we’re closed to the public as we exclusively host a wedding celebration.

We’d like to wish our bride and groom a truly wonderful day as they celebrate with family and friends.

We’ll reopen on Sunday, serving lunch as usual before welcoming Juniper Blue to our courtyard garden for live music from 5:30pm.

🏆 Congratulations to Oui Will, Brie Will Rock You, our July quiz night champions! 🏆

They’re back on top after a short break from the winning spot, proving they’ve still got what it takes! 🇫🇷

They aced picture rounds on French pastries, French regions, FIFA tournament scores, and nepo babies 🥐 ⚽. They also showed they’ve got impeccable timing, mastering our guest round Which Came First? ⏳

A huge thank-you to everyone who joined us for another fantastic evening of great food, friendly competition, and plenty of laughs. We love seeing so many familiar faces, and a few new ones too! 🙌

Our next Quiz & Dinner Night will be on Thursday 20th August, with a Mediterranean-themed menu and quiz 🌊🍋. Tickets will be on sale very soon, so keep an eye on our social media and website to secure your team’s table.

Football under the stars tonight ⚽

England take on Norway in the World Cup Quarter-Final, and we’ll be showing the match live on our 150-inch outdoor projector screen in our courtyard garden.

Join us from 9pm before the 10pm kick-off and enjoy our Burger & Any Draught Pint for £20 (available 9pm–10pm).

Settle in with a drink, soak up the atmosphere and enjoy a summer evening of football in the Sussex countryside.

No booking required for the screening. Just come along and find a spot.

We’ve spent the last few weeks getting The White Lion ready for Flower Festival weekend, and we’re looking forward to welcoming visitors over the next couple of days.

Alongside all the planting and preparations around the pub, Thakeham Church Flower Festival will be running a charity plant stall from our front garden throughout the weekend. Visitors are also very welcome to wander through and enjoy our hidden south-facing courtyard garden.

If you’re out visiting the beautiful open gardens this weekend, why not make The White Lion one of your stops?

Whether you’re joining us for coffee, lunch, or a cold drink in the sunshine, or simply taking a stroll through the garden, everyone is very welcome.

And if you’re visiting on Sunday, don’t forget we’ll also have live music in the garden from Matt Wells, from 5:30pm–7:30pm. The perfect ending to the weekend.

And what a victory it was! These quiz night regulars stormed ahead of the competition, securing a well-deserved win, the champions trophy, and a bottle of Nyetimber to celebrate in style 🍾✨

These guys are clearly well-travelled, absolutely thrashing our Asia by three clues guest round 🌏🥢

They also aced picture rounds on herbs, famous doors, famous cats, and world currencies 🌿🚪🐱💷

Live Music at The White Lion

This Sunday, we’re very excited to welcome live music to The White Lion for the very first time.

Join us in the garden on Father’s Day, Sunday 21st June, as Charlie Bateman plays from 5:30pm – 7:30pm.

With sunshine forecast, cold drinks ready and the garden looking beautiful, it feels like the perfect way to spend a summer Sunday evening.

This is the start of something new for us, as we’ll be hosting live music in the garden every two weeks throughout the summer, with a different line-up each time. Further details can be found in our latest newsletter.

And should the weather have other ideas, we’ll simply move the music inside and keep the good times going.
