Sad loss for Paddons Row today as Mime cafe closed their doors for the last time. It won't be the same without you. Great food, great people, award winning Christmas decorations, Halloween decorations, (4 shot espresso if I was a bit worse for wear), the list goes on.

The input that you have put in to the community spirit of Tavistock has been immense. I hope that someone with the same drive and passion moves in.

You will be sorely missed.

You gave Tracy and I a piece of advice when we opened our shop. " You get back what you put in"

Onwards and upwards ladies. As Tom Petty once said "the future is wide open"

You'll be back once you've stopped having babies and getting married and all of the other stuff that gets in the way.

As our last few days at Paddons Row begin, we would love to see and hear all your Mime memories from the last 7 years. Whether that be Sunday Funday deliveries during lockdown, Sausage roll Saturdays or events we’ve catered… share your memories with us! We’re choosing to celebrate the time we have had here 🫶🏻❤️

Yes we are sad, we don’t know what the future looks like and we can’t promise that you won’t be greeted in the cafe with tears 🥺

We have loved being here and we’ll treasure the memories and friendships we have made along the way ❤️

Sharing one of my favourite memories. Seeing the joy on your faces at Christmas time with our displays and when the snow is falling. Christmas time has always been so special for us seeing families and friends come together and share in love a happiness ❤️

Happy Valentine’s Day 🫶🏻

We’ve well and truly been feeling the love over the last week ❤️

Thank you everyone for your support, kind words and love. To everyone that’s reached out, offered a hug and shared tears with us 😭

We’re now starting to experience our lasts…. Our last Saturday in the cafe, last shifts with some of our team, last coffees with some of you.

Please continue to support our team, their support and dedication throughout this process has been unwavering. And my family working and supporting tirelessly in the background, they’re not always visible but they’re always there soldiering on ❤️

So sad to say that this week is now our last session at Mime. You may have already heard the news that Mime is now closing on February 20th. We are beyond grateful to Mel for hosting us this past year and a half, for making our Tavistock sessions possible and for welcoming us weekly to her wonderful cafe.

Mime was such a haven for me and my toddler when I first moved to Tavistock and always such a lovely place to go for coffee, brunch, toddler plates and toys. I will so miss climbing the stone stairway to its lovely light filled space for our bops fueled by a flat white and warm chocolate croissant! So many lovely times shared there together.

Mel created such a centre of the community and it’s been a joy to celebrate the seasons together. Mime has been the victorious final stop on many a town trail for my family and it will be so missed by us and Tavistock. Huge love and admiration for Mel and everything she has created. Wishing her loads of joy in her adventures to come!

The time has come for me to sit down and write a post I have been dreading 🥺

Although some of you know, and some of you may have guessed what was coming, it doesn’t make it any easier putting it in black and white and sending it out to the world.

The 20th February 2026 will be our last day at Mime. This isn’t a goodbye but hopefully a see you soon in another format…although what format that will be is still unknown at the moment.

Over the last nearly 7 years Tavistock has given us so much love and support, but independent hospitality is struggling. We’ve survived a lot, honestly more than I thought we would and I will be forever grateful and proud of what we’ve achieved and its hard to not feel like I’ve failed in some capacity.

Whilst keeping you fuelled with your mime favourites, we’ve tried our best to support or community and our town and that’s the part I’m finding it hardest to let go of. We’ve been a part of your lives and you’ve been a part of ours and even my children’s.

But unfortunately, with bills rising and custom taking a nose dive we’ve had to make a decision that we never wanted to make. It’s not a decision that has been taken lightly and there are many contributing factors. Our lease is expiring and factors in our personal lives have made it feel like now is the time to make big decisions (we’re talking about marriages, babies and thinking about what our families futures will look like!) It’s very exciting stuff and it feels like these things have come at the right time for us to make that shift.

If I can say just one thing, it would be please please support independent businesses and your high street. Their survival depends on your custom. That’s honestly what it all boils down too.

I would like to truly thank everyone thats visited us or used our services whilst we’ve been here. From when we first opened and I wasn’t sure what I was doing, through Covid and beyond. You’ve made my dreams come true and supported us and all my big ideas….

And to everyone that has helped us along the way, not just staff but family and friends. Mime has been a part of all of us, whether its played a leading role or a supporting one, you’ve all contributed to the experience its been.

Scrolling back through all our photos and memories has shown me what we’ve achieved and how far we have come!

Its been a pleasure to serve our town. We love you Tavistock and we’ll see you soon ✌🏻❤️

Apparently today is ‘blue Monday’ (whatever that means) 🤷🏼‍♀️

Come on in and cosy up for a while. We’ve got warming meals, coffee and sweet treats all prepared in house by our wonderful team to keep you going through the longest feeling month of the year 🩵
