💚☕ £337 RAISED FOR MACMILLAN! ☕💚

A massive THANK YOU to everyone who came along to our Macmillan Coffee Morning, bought cake, bought raffle tickets, donated, bought plants and generally helped us turn coffee and excessive amounts of cake into £337 for Macmillan Cancer Support. 💚 We will top up the total to £500 with a little help from The Waggon Fund.

A very special thank you has to go to Sue from Leonard Houlden Court and Cory Road next door, who did a huge amount of the organising, supplied the beautiful plants and generally made the whole thing happen. 🌱💚

Thank you as well to everyone who baked, donated prizes, helped out and supported the morning.

We genuinely couldn’t have done it without you all.

And somehow we managed to hold an event at The Waggon where people left more sober than when they arrived.

Frankly, we’re as surprised as anyone. 😂☕🍰

£337 for a bloody good cause. Thank you! 💚

Right then. One final word from us. 🍺

Yesterday’s post has now had over 3,000 people actively engage with it — not just see it, actually engage with it. Most of which we have not seen in the pub.

So here’s a slightly uncomfortable bit of pub maths.

If those 3,000 people came into The Waggon once a month and bought one £4 pint, that’s £12,000 through the till.

That would roughly pay our rent, electricity, gas and water, cleaning costs, WiFi etc for an entire month or our wage bill for the month.

Every. Single. Month.

That is the f^*$ing reality facing pubs.

Likes don’t pay the electricity bill. Comments don’t pay the rent. Arguments on Facebook don’t keep the cellar cold or the lights on.

Customers do.

We’ve hosted and welcomed all sorts of groups and organisations over the years, including events involving local government and different political parties. Hosting people in our pub does not mean we endorse their politics. It means we run a pub.

The Waggon remains politically independent. Our doors are open to people with different opinions, provided they behave themselves and show the same respect to everybody else.

And we’ll be equally clear about this:

Anyone — from any side, with any political opinion — who comes to our door looking for trouble will be asked to leave. End of.

You can agree with Reform. You can disagree with Reform. You can think politics has no place in a pub at all. Those are your views and you’re entitled to them.

But we’re not turning The Waggon into a political battleground.

We’re trying to keep a community pub open.

So perhaps the most useful action anyone can take to support their local pub isn’t another 300-word Facebook comment.

Come in. Buy a pint. Have a chat.

You don’t even have to agree with the person sitting next to you.

That’s rather the point of a pub is it not? 🥃

Just a quick note from us at The Waggon 🍻

We’ve been approached by Reform UK to use the pub for an informal get-together and chat.

We’re happy for the pub to be a place where people can meet, talk and exchange views — but we want to make one thing absolutely clear:

The Waggon does not endorse, support or represent Reform UK, or any other political party.

We are politically independent and have no affiliation with any political organisation. Allowing a group to use the pub should not be taken as an endorsement of their views or policies.

Our job is fairly simple: provide a decent pub, keep the b**r flowing, and give people somewhere to meet. 🍺

As always, everyone is welcome at The Waggon, whatever your politics — just be respectful of each other.

We would like to wish Roxy all the best in her new career, and thank you for all your hard work. We will certainly miss your infectious laughter
Additionally, we would like to inform our customers that we are currently reviewing our kitchen operating hours. We will share an update regarding any changes to our schedule shortly. Thank you for your continued support and understanding.

🎃 HALLOWEEN HOUSE OF HORRORS 💀

We’ve been looking around The Waggon and thought…

“You know what this place needs? More skeletons.”

So on Saturday 31st October, we’re decorating the absolute s**t out of the pub and making some very poor decisions. 👻

£10 gets you:
🌭 Help-yourself Hot Dog Bar
🌶️ Chilli Bowls
🍹 A Halloween drink
🎃 Entry to whatever the hell this turns into

There’ll be spooky cocktails, shots, dancing and a £20 bar tab for the best fancy dress.

And when we say fancy dress, we mean fancy dress.

Not your normal clothes with a bit of fake blood on your face.

That’s not a costume, Gary. That’s just Tuesday.

🎟️ TICKETS AVAILABLE FROM THE BAR NOW
📅 Saturday 31st October
⏰ 7pm ’til late

Tickets are limited because apparently there’s a maximum number of people we’re legally allowed to trap inside a haunted pub.

Eat. Drink. Dance. Scream. Repeat. 💀🍺🎃

🍺🥨 WAGTOBERFEST! 🥨🍺

We’ve decided that drinking b**r normally simply isn’t enough anymore.

So on Saturday 17th October from 6pm, we’re putting it in massive glasses, adding sausages and pretending we’re German. 🇩🇪

Expect b**r steins, bratwurst, pretzels, games and several people discovering that lederhosen are considerably less flattering than they imagined.

Speaking of which…

DRESS YOUR FINEST LEDERHOSEN.

Got none? Improvise.
Got some? We have questions.

There will be b**r.
There will be sausages.
There will probably be shouting.

And at some point somebody will say “PROST!” with far too much confidence after three pints.

☕️🍰 MACMILLAN COFFEE MORNING AT THE WAGGON 💚

On Tuesday 29th September, 11am–1pm, we’re swapping pints for cuppas (temporarily, don’t panic) and raising some money for Macmillan Cancer Support.

There’ll be cakes, plants, bits to buy and plenty more — all for a bloody good cause.

Come down, have a coffee, eat an entirely unreasonable amount of cake and help us raise as much as we can. 💚

And if anyone fancies baking something or donating something for us to sell, give us a shout — the more the merrier.

One 4 The Road are back at The Waggon! 🎸🍻

Saturday 26th September — expect a proper night of live music, questionable dancing and at least one person insisting “this is my song!” before every tune.

🎶 ONE 4 THE ROAD – LIVE
📅 Saturday 26th September
📍 The Waggon
🍺 Bar stocked. Dancing shoes optional. Staying sensible unlikely.

No tickets, no fuss — just get yourselves down and make a night of it.

Good music. Good company. One 4 The Road. 🤘🍻

📼 BACK 2 SKOOL… BACK 2 THE 80s!

Apparently we haven’t embarrassed ourselves enough lately, so next Saturday 12th September we’re having an 80s party.

7.30pm onwards.

We want shell suits, leg warmers, double denim, neon, perms, mullets and anything else that makes you look like you’ve been banned from a 1987 branch of Woolworths.

🎶 You lot are choosing the music.

Stick your best 80s requests in the comments. Good ones, bad ones, ridiculously cheesy ones — we don’t care.

We’ll play as many as we can, although anyone requesting Agadoo may be asked to leave.

Fancy dress isn’t compulsory.

But we will silently judge you if you don’t bother.

🍺 No tickets. Just turn up.
📅 Saturday 12th September

Should be a cracking night.

Or an absolute car crash.

Either way, you’ll want to be there. 😂🍻
