A goodbye to The Tavern, as told by Hannah’s camera roll! 📸
Here’s a little highlight reel of some of our best moments over the last couple of years ❤️ Each picture has its own caption with a description, so be sure to check them out! There are some absolute corkers 😄
Working here and serving this community has been such a wonderful experience, and on a personal level I would like to thank not only our locals who made it so, but Gareth Richards and the entire team. Normally I post to this page as some disembodied voice for the business, but for this post I would like to talk to you all as me, Hannah - hello! If you don’t know me already, where on Earth have you been the last two years?😅
Hospitality has its highs and lows, but I’m proud to say that The Tavern has given me some of the highest highs in my entire working career so far. I know, like many of you reading, that I will miss this place very much. Even if I was already leaving, I had hoped to keep coming back to host the quiz, work bustling Saturday night shifts, and for The Tavern to become MY local pub. It was never going to be easy to say goodbye to this place, so for this to be how it happens is devastating 💔
This decision is nothing short of heartbreaking, and the work Gareth has put in over the last four years is so evident - to be losing this is still a shock, even now a week after closing our doors. But the team we’ve had here has been so fantastic throughout everything, and as utterly ridiculous as we can all get, I have never known a team of people that stick together and bond like we have 😊
We’ve hosted people’s weddings, birthdays, christenings - but we’ve also been that local pub where you can come and talk to the team if you’re ever feeling down, if you’ve got good news to share, or if you just need an ear to listen. We have been all of this and more, and I am proud to have led this team alongside Gareth who have been such integral parts of all your lives - even if that may only have been for a short while. We can walk away knowing for a fact that lifelong friendships and relationships have been made, and to everyone on the team I wish you nothing but the best, wherever life takes you next ❤️
As we close our doors, we know that we have not failed. The turn out we had for our final day of trading, sharing lots of hugs, tears, and happy memories, speaks so much to how well Gareth and this business has done being part of the village. The impact we have made on individuals, and vice versa, will never be measured in sales reports. These large breweries will never understand how vital it is for the village local to keep going, and we hope that you all know how much we fought to keep The Tavern in business. We were up against challenges that a lot of much larger companies are also struggling with right now as well, so I think we can hold our heads high knowing that we gave it one Hell of a good go 🍺🥳
To all our regulars, we WILL miss you. Whether we saw you once a day, once a week, or once a month, it doesn’t matter. You all helped to make The Tavern an unforgettable workplace ✨️
Thank you to everyone who made The Tavern special. For me, for Gareth, and for the team. We couldn’t have done it without you all. I wish all of you the best, and hopefully we’ll see you all around someday!
With love, and a few hard quiz questions up my sleeve for old times sake,
Hannah ###
