There are very few true gents left in the world. Sadly tonight there is one less. Tim Blackmore MBE was also a broadcasting legend. Tony Blackburn’s first producer on Radio 1, PC at Capital, Radio Academy, Brit Awards, Unique Broadcasting, Sony Awards ... the list goes on. Tim also produced the Story of Pop of which I have three perfectly bound volumes of the weekly magazine that accompanied his radio series. Tim served as Chair of Lydiard Millicent Parish Council and along with his family was a great supporter of the Sun at The Sun at Lydiard. For those who are part of my youth, Tim and I also spent time (over an ale or glass of at least half decent wine) discussing the early days of MAYC, as his father was a Methodist Minister and played a key part in setting it up.
Most importantly Tim was a devoted and loving husband, father and grandfather. Margaret, Simon, Jo and grandchildren, our thoughts are with you tonight. You all know how much he will be missed by everyone else also. He’s probably already setting the broadcasting world to rights with Fluff, Smitty and Rog. RIP Tim 💜
