We have been brainwashed into believing that we put on excess fat because we are greedy pigs who don't exercise enough.

It's true to say that some people do eat to excess and sit on their backsides all day. This is because, for the most part, food is everything to them. Comfort, pleasure, reward, love. If someone is eating when they are not hungry, there's a mental and emotional need to be addressed.

But what about people like me? I didn't eat massive amounts of foie and what I did eat was organic and very healthy, with the odd sweet treat for which I suffered more remorse than many convicted murderers I encountered during my time as a police officer.

Stress is the key.

Even if you don't have any major stressors in your life, the stress of being overweight is enough.

I produced more stress hormones in the queue to be weighed at my weekly slimming club than I ever did in any of the physically dangerous situations I found myself in.

I dropped 52 pounds when I stopped being chronically stressed. Did I know I was chronically stressed? Nope. I had felt that way so long it was my normal state of being.

I only started learning a stress reduction technique called Emotional Freedom Technique because I was writing a programme on how to cope with the stress of your job being made redundant.

No one was more surprised and delighted than me!

It' a bit more complicated than simply stopping the production of stress hormones.

You have to go after the beliefs, both conscious and unconscious, that create the production of stress hormones in the first place.

There are two kinds of action: will powered action and aligned action.

When you use willpower to force yourself to do what you feel you have to in order to achieve your objective, it's hard work. You have to over ride all your current beliefs and subconscious programming. Even when you achieve your objective (goal weight) it's a struggle to maintain it. (Ask me how I know this!)

Aligned action is when the programmes in your subconscious exactly match your current desires.

If you do the work to locate and dissolve subconscious programming and replace it with beliefs that serve you - for example: instead of 'I have to eat less and exercise more to lose this weight so I won't be a fat pig anymore - evoking feelings of self disgust - wouldn't it be more comfortable to have a belief that you are going to take good care of yourself and, as a result, have the slender body you crave?

Or, instead of "I derserve this bag of crisps, ice cream, cake whatever...." Say "I deserve to have a slender, healthy body and feel great."

So the work we do is to change the programming in our subconscious minds. The rest takes care of itself for you.

Good morning everyone!

What does obesity, IBS, adrenal fatigue, some forms of heart disease and diabetes, not to mention high blood pressure have in common?

High levels of stress hormones, in particular the stress hormone Cortisol.

Fortunately for us all, there are tools and techniques available which help us get in control of stress and then manage it.

Up until now, we may only have realised we were stressed when our health was affected.

Hi to everyone on this gorgeous day! I am so pleased to tell you that at the overweightstress 90 Day Intensive for dissolving stress is completed:)

My classes are growing and while there is extra one to one attention in smaller classes, the more people in a class, more energy is generated and issues can be resolved more quickly.

So it's swings and roundabouts!

My next batch of positive action steps involve editing said 90 Day Intensive and formatting it for Kindle.

For those of you who are not class members, my 90 Day Intensive consists of 12 weekly Modules and 12 weekly classes.

The first 4weeks concentrate on stabilising stress levels, the next 4 weeks are all about finding out where you would like to be (weight, finances, relationships, cleaning your kitchen, sorting out the bags of papers you are afraid to look at etc...) and the final 4 weeks are all about putting what you have learned into practice.

The astonishing thing is, many of my class members seem to NOT do very much at all of what I teach at home, yet still get positive results!
