We promised you an announcement…and an announcement you shall have!

Social media is becoming less and less social for our community, and we’ve struggled to know how to keep sharing information with you whilst navigating that.

So, we’ve decided not to navigate it. And instead we’ve launched our own app!!

It’s a progressive web app so needs to be downloaded via our unique URL

You’ll also note that we’ve also had a slight rebrand to reflect the fact that we work across South West Wales - we’re now referring to ourselves as South West Wales’s Largest LGBTQIA+ Resource.

Emergency demo. Come out for trans liberation!

Following yesterday’s Supreme Court ruling a number of emergency demos have been called across the UK this Saturday. To coincide with these ***r and are organising a demo in Swansea:

The Supreme Court has ruled that under the Equality Act 2010, provision for women only applies to biological (cisgender) women. This ruling also asserts that s*x is binary in the eyes of the Supreme Court, further cutting off the possibility of non-binary legal recognition.

No matter what attacks are made against our trans, non-binary and gender diverse siblings, we won’t disappear and we won’t back down. There is a growing movement against this. Join us and show transphobes, the far right, and the government: THIS IS FAR FROM OVER.

We know that today’s ruling from the Supreme Court will be met with mixed reactions. But as the court themselves point out, their judgement should not be seen as triumph for one group at the expense of another.

We just wanted to reaffirm that SwanScene is a safe space for all of our community, and that we support our trans siblings whole heartedly.

If you attend any of our events or expect us to share stuff for you do so knowing that respect for everybody is expected, discrimination of any kind will not be tolerated.

Just wanted to drop an update as being asked what’s happening about QAF.

I had discussions around a few suitable locations towards the end of last year, and even made some offers. Sadly they were all turned down by the landlords I approached.

So I took a bit of breathing space to review options. I’m still intending to proceed with QAF and am still seeking out a suitable location - it means it won’t be until later this year, so outside my originally planned timescale.

But it’s still on the agenda, it will be happening so please bare with me
