Funding for Innovative Rewilding Projects (England, Scotland & Wales)

Rewilding Britain, a charity focused on nature restoration, is offering grants of up to £15,000 through its Rewilding Innovation Fund to support innovative rewilding projects across Britain.

The fund accepts applications from a range of organisations, including community groups, and private and public landowners / land managers involved in environmental conservation. To be considered, land-based projects must cover at least 40 hectares of contiguous land, while marine projects can be of any size.

Eligible projects can cover a wide range of activities, from community engagement and feasibility studies to technological innovations and strategic planning. The primary goal is to remove barriers to rewilding and encourage creative, impactful approaches to ecological restoration that benefit nature, climate, and local communities.

Applicants need to be part of the Rewilding Britain's Rewilding Network (applicants may join at the point of application).

The closing date for applications is 5 September 2026.

Examples of previous projects funded in the past include:

Seawilding Marine Internship Programme
Funding was awarded to Seawilding’s internship programme in Argyll, Scotland, which trains new practitioners in marine rewilding, including native oyster and seagrass restoration, building skills and capacity for coastal nature recovery.

Yorkshire Rewilding Network – Wild Connections
This community-led initiative in Yorkshire uses Innovation Fund support to place a Rewilding Network Manager, expanding engagement and connection among local landowners, land managers and volunteers to grow a broader rewilding movement.

Trees for Life – Rewilding the Highlands with Beavers
In the Scottish Highlands, Trees for Life received funding to support community engagement and planning around beaver reintroduction, aiming to help restore wetlands that boost biodiversity and natural processes.

Here’s where we have helped before

⚽Pontarddulais Football Club Solar Project
Pontarddulais Town FC plays a key role in the community. Offering opportunities for players of all ages and helping to bring people together through sport. They currently support 26 teams.

🚿This new project marked an exciting step forward in the club’s ongoing commitment to sustainability and community development. The club’s changing rooms relied entirely on grid electricity to operate.

♨Rising energy costs were increasing pressure on the club's ability to run the building affordably and sustainably.

🪫We were able to award a renewable energy grant of £23.130, Providing solar panels and storage batteries.

🌳The project helped the club significantly reduce its energy bills, lower carbon emissions, and become more environmentally sustainable. By generating and storing its own renewable energy, Pontarddulais Town FC will be able to power its facilities more efficiently and reduce its reliance on the grid — saving money that can be reinvested into grassroots football.

Prosiect Solar Clwb Pêl-droed Pontarddulais

⚽Mae Clwb Pêl-droed Tref Pontarddulais yn chwarae rhan allweddol yn y gymuned. Mae'n cynnig cyfleoedd i chwaraewyr o bob oed ac yn helpu i ddod â phobl at ei gilydd drwy chwaraeon. Ar hyn o bryd mae'n cefnogi 26 tîm.

🚿Mae'r prosiect newydd hwn yn nodi cam cyffrous ymlaen yn ymrwymiad parhaus y clwb i gynaliadwyedd a datblygu cymunedol. Ar hyn o bryd, mae ystafelloedd newid y clwb yn dibynnu'n llwyr ar drydan i weithredu.

♨Roedd costau ynni cynyddol yn cynyddu'r pwysau ar allu'r clwb i gynnal yr adeilad yn fforddiadwy ac yn gynaliadwy.

🪫Roeddem yn gallu dyfarnu grant ynni adnewyddadwy o £23,130, gan ddarparu paneli solar a batris storio.

🌳Helpodd y prosiect y clwb i leihau ei filiau ynni yn sylweddol, lleihau allyriadau carbon, a dod yn fwy cynaliadwy yn amgylcheddol. Drwy gynhyrchu a storio ei ynni adnewyddadwy ei hun, bydd Clwb Pêl-droed Tref Pontarddulais yn gallu pweru ei gyfleusterau yn fwy effeithlon a lleihau ei ddibyniaeth ar y grid – gan arbed a***n y gellir ei ail-fuddsoddi mewn pêl-droed ar lawr gwlad.
