A great day by the sea starts with a great cup of tea ☕🌊

We’re delighted to serve Dorset Tea at breakfast (and throughout the day!) so you can enjoy a proper brew whenever you fancy one.

As well as crafting delicious tea, Dorset Tea is committed to making a positive impact. They proudly support the Rainforest Alliance, helping to protect forests and improve livelihoods, and the Marine Conservation Society, supporting the protection of our seas, beaches and marine wildlife, which of course, given our location is a cause particularly close to our hearts.

Every cup is a chance to relax and enjoy a brand that’s passionate about caring for the world around us.

Sam, Keeley and Rosie have just returned from a morning on the beach, clearing litter and doing our bit to keep the coastline looking its best.

Nothing big — just a simple effort that makes a real difference over time. Looking forward to our next one and hoping the sunshine sticks around!

A view worth slowing down for 🌿🌊

Looking out across the dunes at Studland Beach, with Old Harry Rocks standing proudly on the horizon — one of Dorset’s most iconic sights. Just beyond those chalk stacks lies Swanage and that’s where you’ll find us.

It’s a beautiful walk along the coast, and one of our favourite ways to explore the area while keeping things low impact and sustainable. Leave the car behind, breathe in the sea air, and enjoy the journey as much as the destination.

We agree. We are so lucky have the most beautiful spaces right on our doorstep to relax, unwind and connect with nature 🍃🍂

🌿 There’s something powerful about spending time in nature, and the impact it can have on our health and wellbeing is greater than many of us realise.

From reducing stress to boosting mood and helping us reconnect, even small moments outdoors can make a real difference. Evidence shows that simply spending time in green spaces can help lower anxiety, improve mood, and support overall wellbeing

Our blog explores the benefits of nature and how we can all reconnect with it in simple, meaningful ways.

The Pines Hotel - Our Green Story

Our Green Story officially began in March 2026 – as a busy seaside hotel in the heart of the Purbecks and located on the Jurassic Coast, we have always been aware of the impact our business has on our beautiful and fragile environment but this is the year we take responsibility and seriously up our game.

We are setting ourselves a challenge of reaching a Gold award from Green Tourism within 2 years. Fortunately, we are an independent hotel with a close knit team of around 50 people from all walks of life. We don’t have to adhere to large company policies and we can benefit from the ideas and enthusiasm of our team members who will all bring various suggestions and ideas to the table. We are sure our wonderful guests will also bring us fresh suggestions as we progress.

The Pines Hotel started out as three separate dwellings dating back to the early 19th century and therefore because it was not originally designed with modern sustainability standards in mind, we recognise that improving our environmental performance will present some significant challenges, particularly in areas such as energy efficiency.

We were delighted to learn that during our initial assessment process, we were already on the right track with many aspects of Green Tourism and its criteria. We are looking forward to the challenge and knowing that we are contributing to showing our commitment to sustainability and reducing our environmental impact.

Our first steps will be to have a more meaningful presence on social media, implementing information to be on display in our bedrooms to encourage guests to be taking part and working very hard behind the scenes with our various departments to work together and take steps forward. All of this whilst continuing to run a busy clifftop hotel, the largest in Swanage.

We are proud to be a member of Green Tourism and hope that others will be inspired and think about their own impact. Watch this space and keep an eye on our website and social media channels for updates and to see how we progress!
