An excellent initiative that many may not be aware of.

Three of our team members - Keeley, Georgina and Rita went down to the beach last week to complete another beach clean and collected everything from bottles to rope to wrappers and large unidentified pieces of plastic which will now no longer end up in our ocean.

We will be back down there again in a couple of weeks to collect more. To anyone local to us who would like to borrow the equipment in order to take part in The Great British Beach Clean this month you would be very welcome to borrow our supplies. Even better, come back with a bag (or more!) full of rubbish and you'll get a coffee on us 🍃☕

The Great British Beach Clean starts tomorrow!

From 18–27 September, people across the UK and Northern Ireland will be coming together for the Marine Conservation Society’s annual Great British Beach Clean.

It’s not just about removing litter. Volunteers also record the types and amounts of litter they find, creating valuable data that helps the Marine Conservation Society understand the problem and campaign for action to reduce marine litter at its source.

With hundreds of beach cleans taking place across the country, there are plenty of opportunities to get involved, whether you’re joining an organised clean or organising your own.

He certainly made himself at home in the garden, enjoying the sunshine, sea view and those beautiful Swanage cliffs. What a lovely spot for a holiday 🌊🌿🐶

We’re proud to serve locally made , crafted just down the road using fresh Dorset milk. It’s the perfect treat to enjoy while taking in the breath taking views across Swanage Bay.

Even better - they are gluten, nut and egg free with no artificial colours or additives, suitable for vegetarians and they are even Halal accredited! Quite an impressive achievement we think.

Bringing your four legged friend? 🐾 We’ve got them covered too with Pawbeck Doggy Ice Cream, so nobody has to miss out.

After a walk along the South West Coast Path, a day on the beach or an afternoon exploring Swanage, there’s no better way to round off your visit than with an ice cream overlooking the sea.

A must visit whilst staying with us - a day out suitable for the whole family, with stunning scenery and dramatic coastline, an abundance of wildlife, stunning walks and a gallery, shop and café. They also have a comprehensive accessibility guide on their website and free wheelchairs are provided.
For those unable to come and see for yourself - they even have a live clifftop we**am to make sure you don't miss out!

To celebrate the start of Swanage Lifeboat Week 2026 () - we will be donating £1 from every one of our fish main courses sold at dinner this weekend straight to the RNLI - an even better reason to enjoy some delicious, homecooked food with a very special view!

***Green Tourism August 2026 update***

We are delighted to share just some of the ways in which we are already well underway in our Green Tourism journey and reducing the amounts of waste we accumulate. We are looking forward to submitting for our first assessment in the coming weeks and see what level of award we have achieved...! 🤞

We have -

• Removed plastic water bottles in rooms and replaced with glass refillable bottles - saving 20,000 plastic bottles in 2025 alone!
• Extra recycling bins in place to aid staff in sorting and organising
• Milk pots have been replaced with milk sticks - did you know the sticks have less packaging than the pots?
• Plastic drinks stirrers have been replaced with sustainable, recyclable wooden ones
• Large bottles of cleaning products and toiletries are ordered instead of repeatedly buying individual bottles
• Catering packs of cereal and cooking ingredients used instead of small, individual portions
• No longer ordering decorative tray papers or toilet roll stickers
• Large tubs and containers (for example ice cream tubs) are re used instead of recycled.

In the future, we are looking to -

• Replace our condiment sachets in our lounge bar with a more environmentally friendly alternative
• Source toilet paper wrapped in paper and not plastic
• Source alternatives to plastic toothbrushes

Swanage Lifeboat Week 2026 is almost upon us! Join us for eight days of more activities, events and learn more about what our wonderful RNLI volunteers do. A jam packed week not to be missed and all in support of a very worthy cause!
