Eureka Primary School Eureka Primary School - where all of our children come first. A wonderfully caring community for 'enjoying - engaging - enhancing - enabling' learning.

Dear Visitor,

Welcome to the page of Eureka - a unique name for a unique school! At Eureka we strive to create an atmosphere of belonging, where all children and adults feel safe, valued and included. We believe: ‘There can be no issue of greater importance to parents and carers, or to schools, than the safety of their children.’ Ofsted 2011. Eureka's children are happy, generous and har

dworking - showing a real passion for their school. Visitors comment on their positive attitude, and the genuine pride they have for their school. Their contribution is vital to the life of this wonderful place that opens the hearts and minds of everyone who has the pleasure to be involved with us. Our staff know the children and they know us - a mutual respect exists between us. We all strive to be the best we can by following our PRIDE (Presentation, Resilience, Independence, Determination, Engagement) ethos that makes us Eureka! Our ethos, and being 'Safe, Happy and Comfortable' underpin everything we do at Eureka. Our Governors work with the school to ensure that the children are given the best opportunities to develop their potential to the full. We are one big welcoming family and we hope that our website and this space on Facebook provides you with a true taste of all things 'Eureka!'
Our door is 'always open' should you want to visit us and share the Eureka Experience. Miss Cassie Hurt - Headteacher

Thank you to everyone who joined us for our family picnic on the last day of term - it was a lovely way to end the school year and a lovely last event for our Year 6 leavers to be a part of.

You're generosity helped the school to raise a fantastic £178.50 which will be spent on buying new resources for the Adventurers' outdoor area.

A huge thank you to Mrs Edwards and Mrs Simpkins for running the ice cream and drinks stall helping everybody to keep cool on a lovely sunny day.

This morning we held our final assembly of the year to say goodbye and good luck to Mrs Mitchell and Miss McDermott as they embark on their well earned retirement from teaching.

The children have shared their favourite memories of the ladies and said a heartfelt thank you to both. The staff have also given them their gifts and shared their thanks for their hard work over the years.

Eureka will not be quite the same without them but we wish them all the very best in their retirement doing whatever they choose to do!

Enjoy your time ladies!

Another busy day at Eureka - we have had our Special Achievement Assembly this morning celebrating those children who have excelled, or made fantastic progress in each of the following areas:

Literacy, Numeracy, Sports, Arts and Effort

Then this afternoon we held our reward time for the winning house in this years house cup - well done to Calke!

We also gave reward time to all of those students who were awarded a Platinum Award this morning - these children are those who have been awarded 10 or more housepoint certificates this year - making an outstanding contribution to their class, their house team and the school in general!

Adventurers also had an extra playtime to celebrate winning the Eureka World Cup Sweepstake, having drawn Spain in at the start of the competition - Viva Espana!

Well done to all of the children for competing in their sports day and managing the walk to and from the park to get to the sports track.

A big thank you to Belmont Primary School for the loan of some of their equipment and access to their site this morning. A special mention to their caretaker Neil for his help this morning helping us check the site to ensure that it was safe to use and to the Park Attendants at South Derbyshire District Council for their help with the facilities.

Another big thank you to the mini leaders who helped to organise the events for EYFS, Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2.

Finally, a big thank you to those parents who attended and especially to those who helped with the walking and the marshalling of the crossings - everybody contributed to making it a great morning of sport in the sunshine!

Dear Parents and Carers,

We have been made aware that many people have either received messages in error about their child's class for September, or have not received a message at all. We have been using an updated version of Parentmail and it appears to be a technical error which we are looking into now. We will be rectifying this as soon as possible but we would ask you to please be patient with this.

It appears that the email meant for the current Thinkers class has been sent to all parents in the school. If your child is *not* currently in Thinkers please ignore the message addressed from Miss Baker.

For some clarity in the meantime:

All of children in the Adventurers will be moving to Thinkers with our fabulous new teacher Miss Nickless and Mrs Davis as the class TA.

All of the children currently in the Thinkers class will be moving up to the Explorers with Miss Baker as their teacher and Mrs Joseph as the Class TA.

Kind Regards
Mr Brazier

Thank you for understanding about today and the decision made for an earlier pick up if you wanted. Again, the children have been great this morning and over lunchtime.

We have had good attendance and know that this is important, we want children in school.

The weather is not cooling tomorrow, as shown earlier in the week, it is going to be the same as today.

Tomorrow, school is open but, again, you have the option of picking up your child / children at 1.15pm, should you wish. We will be in school until 3.15pm as usual if this is not an option for you.

For those children who have been sick, the 48 hour rule does not apply if this is due to the heat and not a stomach bug.

The children have been great today but they have struggled at times in the heat. It has been hotter today than yesterday in school and in the classrooms, with this afternoon being particularly so.

Tomorrow, school is open but you have the option of picking up your child / children at 1.15pm, should you wish. We will be in school until 3.15pm as usual if this is not an option for you.
