☀️ What a beautiful day in West Leake! ☀️

Yes, we're experiencing another heatwave... but you know what?

The beer is cold. 🍻

So, while the sunshine is doing its very best to turn everywhere into a Mediterranean escape, we thought we'd share this little snapshot from inside THE STAR.

Our wonderful bar staff doing what they do best, and two local legends enjoying what looks like the perfect pint in the comfort of the pub.

Sometimes the best place to be on a hot afternoon is somewhere cool, relaxed and with a cold drink waiting for you.

So, what are you up to this afternoon? ... Garden? Walk? BBQ? Or are you joining us for a chilled drink at THE STAR?

Introducing Team... Fore Play! ⛳💚

We're incredibly proud to be cheering on three familiar faces as they take on a mammoth challenge for a fantastic cause.

Lewis (who many of you will know from THE STAR), together with Ethan and Justin (both former members of The STAR team), will be taking part in the Macmillan Cancer Support Longest Day Golf Challenge on Sunday 26th July.

Their mission?

🏌️ 72 holes of golf.
⏰ In just 24 hours.

Easy, right...? 😄

As Dave put it...

"None of them are exactly role models when it comes to health and fitness, so they may well need medical care afterwards..."
..and probably a well-earned pint! 🍻

All jokes aside, they're taking on this challenge to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support, helping provide emotional, practical and financial support to the millions of people across the UK living with cancer.

It's a brilliant cause, and we'd love it if our wonderful STAR community could get behind the lads.

🍺 Bet you didn't know we serve Gluten Free beer... did you?

Well... now you do!

We're pleased to stock Milestone Brewery - Tap Room and Shop (Milestone Brewing Co.)'s New World Super Pale Ale (3.9% ABV), a refreshing Gluten Free beer that's proving rather popular.

In fact, we recently handed the important job of quality control over to none other than Father STAR, Peter himself.

His expert tasting notes? "Great pint!"
Short. Simple. Straight to the point. We'd expect nothing less! 😄🍻

We've even got the official branded glasses ready and waiting, so if you're looking for a Gluten Free beer without compromising on flavour, why not give it a try next time you're in?

🌞 It's hotter than Satan's armpit at The Pit House today... 🌞

🍴 The kitchen will close at 2.00pm this afternoon and reopen at 5.45pm this evening.

With temperatures reaching around 32°C in West Leake due to the UK Heatwave dot Com, it's another very warm one, and after keeping a close eye on conditions in the kitchen, we've made a couple of changes to today's service to help look after our wonderful team.

We've also made the decision that, due to the extreme temperatures, we won't be offering table service in the beer garden today.

The safety and wellbeing of our staff has to come first, especially when they're working in an already very hot kitchen / front of house and carrying hot meals out into full sunshine.

You're still more than welcome to enjoy your meal outside, though! Simply order and collect your food inside, then find a spot in the garden (or under one of our umbrellas if you manage to bag one! ☂️🍻).

We'll continue to review things throughout the day as we keep one eye on the forecast... and the other on that relentless shiny sky orb.

Heatwave Update 🔥🔥 :: We’re closing at 2.30pm for lunch service today (Thursday) and will reopen at 5.45pm till 8.45pm last orders. It’s blistering in the Pit House kitchen again! 🥵 Keep hydrated you lovely lot.

In the immortal words of Peter Kay... "Oh, it's too warm for me." ☀️🥵

And if you're thinking it's hot outside, spare a thought for Dave, Trev and the kitchen team. It's already blistering in there, and the shiny sky orb appears determined to turn West Leake into the Costa Del' once again.

With temperatures reaching around 31°C today, we've made the decision to shorten kitchen service slightly to keep everyone safe, sensible and not medium-rare.

🍴 Lunch service will finish at 2.30pm
🍴 Evening service will finish at 8.00pm

We'll review things as the week goes on, depending on what the aforementioned shiny sky orb decides to do next.

Happy Monday, folks! ☀️🍴

Well, it's warm outside... and we've just made things even hotter by launching our Summer Menu 2026 at The Pit House Restaurant! 😄

Packed with seasonal favourites, fresh flavours and a few tempting new additions, there's plenty to catch the eye.

Personally, we've got a few questions... Firstly, what exactly is a Greek Salad – THE STAR Way (£9.00)? 👀

We feel this requires immediate investigation. Is it a sneakily brilliant twist on a classic? A future summer favourite? The only way to find out is to order one...

And then there's the House Made Doner Kebab Wrap with salad, garlic mayo, mild chilli sauce and triple cooked chips (£18.00).

Mouth. Watering. Already. 🤤

Of course, while the temperatures outside may be soaring, we're firm believers that good food never adds to the heat. In fact, a leisurely lunch, a relaxed dinner, a cold drink and good company sound like exactly the right way to spend a summer's day.
