🎨 A very special gift for THE STAR...

A huge thank you to Robin Borrett and the East Leake Coloured Pencil Artists, who have created this beautiful piece of artwork especially for us at THE STAR. ⭐

The group began around 20 years ago, bringing together a love of coloured pencil art with a wonderful commitment to their local community.

They normally hold an art exhibition on East Leake Carnival 2027 , raising funds for local charities along the way. The next Carnival will be in 2027, so we're especially pleased to have this lovely connection with our neighbours in East Leake in the meantime.

And we have the perfect place for it...

Once it's framed, this beautiful piece will have pride of place above the fire at THE STAR.

And yes... the fire is actually in the artwork too! 🔥

For now, though, please enjoy these lovely photographs of the artists with Leah and their finished creation.

We'll be collecting donations for the East Leake Coloured Pencil Artists, helping them to continue their fantastic work to support local charitable foundations.

🌅 The West Leake Microclimate strikes again...

Dave has gone and captured this absolute beauty from THE STAR.

An epic sunset, with the trees starting to take on those gorgeous early autumn colours. 🍂

Although we're now wondering exactly how committed Dave was to getting the shot...

Because these photographs are very good.

Suspiciously good.

Was he standing in the car park? Or was Dave, quite literally, lying in the road?

We may never know. 😂📸

What we do know is that West Leake really does have some cracking views, and we're rather lucky to have them right on our doorstep.

So here's a little Friday reminder to stop, look up and enjoy what's happening outside.

🐴 How are you getting to THE STAR this Bank Holiday?

Billy's already beaten you to it...

We had a lovely visit from our four-legged friend Billy, who arrived with his owner Sarah and very kindly posed for a photograph outside the pub. He's looking remarkably pleased with himself, don't you think?

And with the August Bank Holiday just around the corner, we thought we'd use Billy as our rather excellent countryside transport reminder. 😄

Whether you're arriving on horseback, two wheels, four wheels... or simply on foot, we've got a few things to tell you about the Bank Holiday weekend.

📅 Bank Holiday Monday: Food service will be available from 12pm–5pm, while the pub itself will be open as normal.

If you're planning to eat with us on Monday, we'd recommend booking ahead — especially if the weather decides to/not play ball!

As for Billy...

We're not entirely sure whether he's staying for lunch, but he certainly looks like he knows where the good stuff is. 🐴🍻

🔎 We’ve found a little internet trend... and this one has made us smile.

Apparently, the challenge is to head to Google and type:

“Lunch in my [City / Town / Village]”

Then visit the first result that comes up.

It’s giving us lovely, warm, local, snow day / lockdown vibes — remember when everyone was suddenly discovering what was right on their doorstep? ❤️

So, naturally, we had to try it for ourselves.

“Lunch in West Leake”...

And guess who appeared at the top?

⭐ THE STAR! ⭐

Well, we can't argue with Google.

Especially now we've got our brand new Ciapaninis menu doing the rounds. Posh sandwiches, delicious fillings and plenty of reasons to make lunch a little more interesting. 🥪
