Recently we had the privelage of hosting the photo/video shoot for the now released goalkeeper strips for the upcoming 2026/27 season, paying recognition to the legend that is Southwick’s Jimmy Montgomery.
Each kit recognising a different part of his remarkable legacy 👏🏼 more tremendous work from those at Sunderland and Hummel .
Once again a massive thank-you to Sunderland for, once again, choosing our venue for this occasion 🤝 🔴⚪️

A New Badge for a New Era - But the Clock Never Stops

The Times Inn, Sunderland, a historic pub originally dating back to 1854, today unveils a reimagined badge from our 2020 version. It marks the most extraordinary moment in the city's recent memory, Sunderland AFC's return to the Premier League and the dawn of European football on Wearside for the first time since 1974.

The Time's Inn on Wear Street recognises that our identity has always been built around one unforgettable moment - 3:32pm on 5th May 1973, the exact minute Ian Porterfield's right foot wrote history at Wembley, sending Sunderland AFC to one of the greatest FA Cup upsets ever witnessed.

That moment lives on our badge. It always has. It always will.

But Sunderland doesn't stand still. And neither do we.

⏱️ The Clock That Tells Two Stories

Our new badge retains the soul of the original - a clock face frozen at 15:32, but now tells a richer story. The face is split in two:

The left side - Roman numerals, aged and proud, representing 1973, the giant-killing and the legend.
The right side - clean, modern numerals, representing today. The Premier League. Europe. 2026.

A new addition to the badge is the FA Cup trophy, honouring a great day in Sunderland AFC's history and the triumph that inspired our identity.

A single star also joins the design, symbolising the return of European nights to Wearside.

✍️ A Name Restored

This relaunch also sees the return of the pub's original name: The Time's Inn.

When the pub first opened in 1854, the apostrophe was intentional - a play on words meaning "the time is in", signalling the end of the working day for Sunderland's shipyard workers after completing their shift.

Over time, the apostrophe disappeared. Today, we're proudly restoring it, honouring the pub's heritage and the working people who built Wearside's world-famous shipbuilding industry.

📍 More Than a Pub Badge

"It's a statement. Sunderland never gave up. They played until the final whistle, they earned their place at the top table, and now they're heading into Europe. We've been here through every low and every high. This badge is for every fan who kept the faith."

"The clock on our badge has always shown 15:32 - Ian Porterfield's moment. That doesn't change. But now there's a second half to the story, with the FA Cup proudly taking its place alongside a new star looking towards Europe's future. We're also proud to restore our original name, The Time's Inn, celebrating both our footballing heritage and our shipbuilding roots. We can't wait to write the next chapter together."

🔴⚪ Wear Street. Sunderland. Always.

The new badge will appear across the pub from this week.
