Clare Social Club Usage survey and support insight #4
Our recent survey showed something we already suspected. Clare Social Club is not just a place for events and activities. For many people, it is a centrally located and easily accessible place to meet friends, feel part of the community, and avoid isolation.
Survey Respondents:
1) Around half were aged 65+.
2) 60%+ visit weekly or more often.
3) Dozens of comments highlighted friendship, wellbeing, mental health, combatting isolation and community connection.
A few anonymous comments here:
* “I live here on my own and the social club offers a safe and friendly place to meet other people. A real hub of the community”
* “It is my main way to meet friends and have a laugh which is important for my mental health as well as physical.”
* “very beneficial for mental health and combatting loneliness”
* “For some people this is their only source of daytime socialising.”
* "It’s a valuable asset to the town , the people who run it are friendly and I feel as a single lady I can go there on my own for company"
The survey results suggest that Clare Social Club currently serves a an important role, particularly for older residents seeking regular social contact, community activities and a welcoming indoor meeting place in the heart of our town.
Thank you again to everyone who took part in the survey and shared their views.
