We are delighted to have great friend and even better musician Alan back to help us celebrate Miles' 60th Birthday Weekender! Former member of Afterhours and ex Stroud resident, Alan Burke is widely regarded as one of the finest ballad singers of his generation. Well-known as a member of Rambling Boys of Pleasure, Alan possesses an almost inexhaustible repertoire of traditional, contemporary and self-penned songs in both the English and Irish languages.

This is a Pay What You Feel gig, and we will be taking the hat around

Serving food all day, from 1pm to 9.30pm.

The mind-spinning indie-rock/folk/art of Jeffrey Lewis & The Voltage developed when songwriter and comic book artist Jeffrey Lewis began recording homemade cassettes in New York City in 1998; his critically acclaimed, unusual and word-dense songs lead to Jeffrey signing to Rough Trade Records in 2001 (record label of The Smiths, The Strokes, etc.), and the project evolved into a live touring cult sensation around the world. Creating a brilliant style of scuzzy urban indie-rock-folk, like a 21st Century mash-up of Sonic Youth, Pete Seeger and R. Crumb, Jeffrey’s band has played countless gigs all over the world, including playing as the opening act for icons like the Mountain Goats, Daniel Johnston, Stephen Malkmus & The Jicks, Dinosaur Jr, The Fall, Dr. Dog, Pulp, Roky Erickson, The Vaselines, and more.

TOMORROW!

Di-Cysgodion, led by Welsh bass player/composer Huw Williams. The line up consists of Mike De Souza and Billy Marrows both on electric guitar, Jay Davis on drums and Huw V Williams completing the line up on electric bass. Williams goes back to his rock roots with this instrumentation to explore the sonic pallet from the view of a jazz improvisor/composer. Having previously led projects with no harmony instruments, Huw decided to have a group which deals with harmony head on, exploring dense harmonic voicings paired with infectious rhythms and live stereo guitars. This music comes from a huge pool of influences, including Deerhoof, Ravel, Thelonious Monk, Super Furry Animals, Ornette Coleman, Hermeto and everything inbetween. A musical spectacle not to be missed.

We now hold three(!) Beer, Cider and Music Festivals each year and this is our big August one following our big February and May ones. What can you expect? Well the pub is not just a pub but a legendary, expertly programmed live music venue so expect unique performances from local and further afield artists across the five days. So far? The lofi-fuzz indie of Lo-Hi-Lo shoegaze grunge queen , new kids on the punk/grunge block .band and the thrilling mix of Moroccan gnawa, haunting guembri melodies and krar riffs by . Many more bands tba!

And we mustn’t forget…BEER. A wide selection of cask beer will be available on a popup bar in the covered courtyard and all the usual suspects inside with non drinkers all very well catered for too. The beer festival where EVERYONE is welcome…
