✨ I think it’s time for reflection and gratitude ✨
This is going to be long, so buckle up.
When I opened in 2021 (after a mad dash of decorating with my dad), the total staff count was two: Deb and me. It was such a lovely thing, being able to hang out and reconnect with my mum as an adult, especially coming straight out of lockdown. This worked for a few months?
I quickly realised I needed to hire some staff. By this point, I’d exhausted all the free labour from my friends, and my mum was completely terrified of using the till, so that’s what I did. I hired two babies — not so much babies anymore (I miss you both) 👋🏼👋🏼
We survived like that until October 2021, when I made the best business decision I have ever made: hiring 🎉
Every single member of staff who has worked at Rough Hands since then has brought something special to the shop, and I appreciate every single one of you. (This is why you all still get discounted coffees or free batch, even though some of you haven’t worked here for years…)
I’m not going to @ you all, but consider this a @ 👀
We’ve gone from a team of 2, to a team of 4, to now a team of 10?!
I can’t begin to express how much my staff are responsible for every success the shop has had. You all have your favourites (whether you like how they make your coffee or you just like their face), and we’ll keep making you coffees and hearing your gossip if you keep coming in.
Thank you to everyone who has helped me build my business into what it is today. I love you, and I appreciate every single flat white, pastry, or bag of beans I sell.
Thank you for supporting me 💖
