It is very broken hearts that we are releasing this announcement today.

Unfortunately, our small little business has not been able to cope with such increased costs in such a short space of time.

With regret, after 10 wonderful years of The Orchard, we have as of today ceased trading.

We would like to thank all of our amazing team for their endless hard work and to all of our customers past & present, thank you for always supporting us.

We are all incredibly sad right now, but we know everyone will go on to the next chapter of their journey & achieve great things. Team Orchard will always be a part of us! 🌳

Well, let's be honest, we didn't think we'd be writing this, so soon after trying to recover from a global pandemic.

Unfortunately, from today we are going to be reducing our opening hours and will now no longer be open on Monday & Wednesday evenings. ☹️

This is in a direct response to two things; a reduction in custom and the alarming speed at which our supplies have increased in price. We are not seeing just 10% inflation, we are seeing oil canisters increase from £19 to £42 in less than a year, cod become so expensive that the first time in 10 years we can't serve cod & chips...the list goes on!

We have had to re-evaluate our entire business & highlight the areas where we are not busy enough. Shutting trading hours is honestly a last resort and not something we ever wanted to do. We thought we'd be opening up 7 nights a week!

What we are facing in the coming months with huge energy price rises is further supply increases, as well as our own bills increasing, so we are making every effort to reduce costs where we can and operate as efficiently as possible.

We are well aware that eating & drinking out is a luxury and one of the first areas many struggling with the rising cost of living will stop spending in, and over this summer, like many hospitality businesses, we have already witnessed this, but we have lots of staff who work for us & rely on us and we will continue to fight through this never ending storm.

We understand that for some of our regulars this will be disappointing news, but we hope you can understand our reasoning. 💕

Our new hours will be:
9am - 6pm Mon to Thurs
9am - 11pm Fri with Kitchen open for dinner service
9am - 5pm Sat & Sun

We are still available for private party hire on Saturday nights and have limited availability left in 2022, so don't hesitate to get in contact if you are looking for a party venue! 🎈

...QUIZ NIGHT!!!!...

Wow!! What an event!

It was our first Quiz Night at Letchworth last night, and we were completely sold out! 😱
21 teams, 81 players, 10 rounds of questions, 30 bonus points up for grabs, loadssssss of freshly battered cod and even more chips served!!!

It was an evening of wonderful competitive fun & we really enjoyed hosting it!

Thank you to everyone who attended and for all the wonderful feedback; especially regarding our own recipe fish! We are going to run a Quiz Night a few times a year & our next one is booked in for Friday 17th June. More details regarding the menu for that next date will follow, so for now, pop the date in your diary.

First up is the Orchard's French Toast - every week check out the Specials Board to see what the topping is! - This weekend its pretzel Nutella, fresh strawberries & ice cream!! 😱😍🍓

🍌 The Waffle is topped with cinnamon banana, toffee sauce and cream 😋

🥐 For a savoury treat, try our Stacked Croissant, filled with egg, bacon, smashed avo, tomato & cheese

Since relocating, we've had so many requests to get our Quiz Night back up & running, and now's the time! 🙌

10 rounds of questions, an interval with a Fish & Chip supper, and only one winning team!!

7.30pm arrival for 7.45pm prompt start. Supper served half way and the bar will be open until midnight.
