Opened in February 2019, our cosy café offers a warm welcome and quality homemade food and cakes, outside catering and private bookings. Our popular traditional English breakfasts offer premium thick back bacon and large local award-winning free-range eggs. We also offer vegetarian, gluten-free, vegan, healthier & keto breakfasts, with the aim of having something for everyone: we even have several versions of our Eggs Benedict, including vegetarian! We make our own lunches and cakes, including ‘real’ gluten free and vegan food and cakes. Nothing is too much trouble, so if you don’t see your favourite dish on the menu please ask, and we may just be able to make it for you. In November 2019 we were nominated in the Northern Echo Best Café competition, where we were voted twelfth overall out of hundreds of cafés in their circulation areas of Darlington, Durham, Middlesbrough, North Yorkshire, Bishop Auckland and Northallerton. Not bad for a business we opened only months before and a huge credit and thanks to our ‘Pink Ladies’ and our amazing customers! For the comfort of our customers, we are registered as Dementia Friendly, Breastfeeding Friendly, Autism Friendly and also with the Gluten Free Dining organisation. Our owner, a qualified teacher, has a City & Guilds qualification in Food & Nutrition so can offer food to suit every customer. Having been diagnosed as gluten intolerant and lactose intolerant she also has first-hand experience of choosing ingredients to suit dietary needs. Our afternoon teas are available daily - we also offer gluten free and vegan versions with only 24 hours notice.
