At just 21 years old, Kieran has already taken the plunge and launched his own electrical business – DDIY Solutions 👏
We caught up with Kieran to find out more about the young man behind the business, the journey so far and his ambitions for the future.
After leaving school, Kieran went straight into an apprenticeship, spending around four years training and gaining experience across different areas of the electrical trade.
He started out working on building sites in London before moving into domestic electrical work, where he gained further experience working in people's homes as well as on commercial jobs.
After qualifying and building up his confidence, Kieran decided the time was right.
In January, he quit his job and went out on his own.
And as he told us, he "hasn't looked back since."
🔌 So, what does DDIY Solutions do?
Kieran covers a wide range of electrical work including:
⚡ Electrical inspections
⚡ Fault finding
⚡ EV car chargers
⚡ PAT testing
⚡ New sockets and lighting
⚡ Electrical alterations and additions
⚡ Full house rewires
⚡ Commercial electrical work
He's also completed training in solar and battery storage and is working towards being able to offer this fully through the business.
But becoming your own boss at 21 has meant learning far more than just electrics.
Kieran explained that when you're employed, you can finish the job and go home. Now he's responsible for everything – quoting, winning the work, ordering materials, completing the job, invoicing, certification and keeping up with new regulations and technology.
His attitude?
Sometimes the best way to learn is to "be chucked in the deep end and figure it out." 💪
And he's got some pretty big ambitions.
The first target is simple…
👉 Conquer Andover. 😂
Kieran hopes to build DDIY Solutions into a familiar local name, eventually having several vans on the road around Andover before expanding further into areas including Basingstoke and Wi******er.
And there's one message behind the whole business:
"Don't do it yourself, do it right."
When it comes to electrics, that's probably pretty good advice! ⚡
