Yesterday we noticed that an elderly resident that we usually check in on, hadn’t got their car in the drive like usual. When we knocked on, they said that they’d had trouble with their vehicle and couldn’t get their shopping that they usually get daily.

We asked what it was and nipped straight to Tesco. We made sure that they had everything that they needed, stopped for a quick chat to ask about their week and went about our day.

We met this resident many years ago, they said that seeing us makes their week, as we’re some of the only people that stop by.

It was only a small gesture, but we all felt the value of this interaction yesterday. To us, it made us realise just how important we are to those that rely on our visibility and presence. For the gentleman, he said that seeing a familiar and friendly face that he knows that cares keeps him going everyday. He had a tear in his eye when he told us this.

Look out for your neighbours and those in your community, see the value in the small interactions. They matter.

Please make us aware of anyone that needs support, we will be happy to help.

There are fantastic groups in the community like the Haslington Support Group and other charities that will help if you need support yourself.
