Historic Staithes pub named among Yorkshire’s best. 🍻🌊

Perched beside the harbour in Staithes, the Cod & Lobster has been named by Yorkshire Life as one of its must-visit pubs for 2026.

It’s easy to see why. Sitting metres from the North Sea, the historic pub has become one of the most recognisable sights in the fishing village. It offers fantastic harbour views and strong links to Staithes’ maritime heritage.

Its exposed position has given the pub quite a story. Previous versions have been claimed by the sea. Staithes Museum records that the Cod & Lobster was washed into the sea four times. During the devastating storm of 1953, the pub's front was washed away.

Thankfully, the Cod & Lobster still stands today, welcoming locals, visitors, and walkers with food and drink in one of the most spectacular pub locations on the Yorkshire coast.
