Congratulations to New Club junior Ewen on his excellent performance at The Renaissance Club!

Fantastic Farquhar rules at The Renaissance.

We were delighted to welcome junior golfers to The Renaissance Club yesterday for our final competition of 2022.

Our 18 hole shoot-out event was played on a beautiful cold winters day, where the sun shone and the golf dazzled.

Coming out on top was Ewen Farquhar of St Leonards Schooland New Golf Club St Andrews Despite a bogey at the last, Ewen posted a 4 under par 67 which was good enough for a 2 shot win over fellow Fifer Charlie Gillespie.

In third place was Gullane Golf Clubmember Fergus Brown who finished eagle-birdie-birdie for a 1 under par round of 70.

A huge thanks to the members and staff of The Renaissance Club for hosting us once again. The course is without a doubt one of the best in Scotland and a real treat for the players, particularly at this time of the year.

We hope our members, from both near and far, thoroughly enjoyed the 2022 Open week in St Andrews! The golf itself was scintillating, and it was great to see the clubhouse so full and vibrant during the week with the various brunches, drinks and dinners on offer. Of course, none of this would have been possible without the fantastic and tireless efforts of our front of house team, our office staff, and our chefs in the kitchen! Under the guidance of GM Steve, and with the assistance of the Committee, it is safe to say our collective Open experience would not have been the same without each and every one of them. So thank you to you all for your hard work, it certainly paid off!

Congratulations to New Club junior Ollie Mukherjee for his convincing victory in the R&A Local Clubs Gold Medal held over the Old Course on Sunday! Ollie shot rounds of 68 and 69 to post a -7 total to win by 3 from the runner-up, his twin brother Sam 🏆 Well done also to Ewen Farquhar for securing the Junior Gold Medal prize with a strong round of 74, also shot on a testing Old Course! Wonderful achievements against very strong fields, well done boys!

Yesterday was a special day as our Club Captain Ronnie welcomed our Honorary Member, and 8-time major champion, Tom Watson into the clubhouse after a round on the Old Course!

Congratulations to our team, led by captain Ronnie, who successfully retained the Rotary Cup on Sunday after a 3-3 draw against the St Andrews Club on the Eden course!

Following the refurbishment of our Peter Thomson Suite, Sandy Herd Bar, and old Junior Room, we are delighted to be able to finally share these updated pictures of our Club with you! We hope our members approve of the new look!

Whether you are looking for lunch with a view, or simply to watch the big game on one of our newly installed TVs, we feel that this highly functional and fashionable space is one of the best spots in town to do it. North East Fife Winter League Knockout Cup Champions 2021/22 🏆 Congratulations to our handicap winter league team who today defeated Ladybank 2.5-1.5 in an extremely close encounter on the Leven links! This is the first time the Club has won the cup since the trophy was instated in 1990, so well done to everyone involved for their hard work and efforts throughout the successful cup run this year! Many thanks to Leven Golfing Society for their hospitality on the day, and thanks also go to Fergus and his Ladybank team for an exciting day of spirited competition and sportsmanship

2022 marks the 120th Anniversary of the formation of the New Golf Club St Andrews, our Founders in 1902 being: Herbert Singer, Arthur C Aikman, Charles Donaldson, George G Fisher, James Pirie, James L Smart, Edward King and Robert C Stenhouse.

As well as being a Founder, Edward King, a schoolteacher in St Andrews, was the first Captain of The New Golf Club.

Today we compete for the Founders Day Trophy that was introduced into the Annual Fixture List in 2002 in our Centenary year.

The trophy itself is an impressive ship's decanter that is set into a wooden base with eight small silver plaques each carrying the name of a Founder.

The Founders Day Trophy in our 120th Year will be played in Stableford Format over Optional Courses across the Links where I expect over 75 members will participate.

Please enjoy your days golf and for those not competing give a thought to the eight Gentlemen who formed our “Great Club” back in 1902.
