What’s Got Everyone Smiling?

I went for a stroll with the sun on my face,
Past hedgerows, front gardens and every warm place.
The birds seemed louder, the sky extra blue,
Even the postman was grinning at you.
People were laughing, the village had cheer,
Like someone had whispered, “Good news is here!”
Windows swung open, dogs danced on the green,
The happiest Monday I’d ever seen.
I wandered on down where the good times begin,
To The Otter pub, with a wide happy grin.
The garden was glowing, the pints catching light,
And everyone’s mood was unusually bright.
“What’s going on?” I said, “What have I missed?
Why’s every face looking perfectly blissed?”
A man raised his glass with a mischievous view,
And said, “Well, my friend… we’ve had quite a breakthrough.”
No fireworks, no parade, no grand royal scene,
Just a rumour drifting somewhere between—
A suitcase, a doorway, a polished black door,
And Number 10 looking less crowded than before.
No names were mentioned, of course, not out loud,
But the sun shone harder on Otterbourne’s crowd.
So cheers to the joy, let the good feeling stay,
Some things just make Britain smile in its own special way.

A massive thank you to everyone who joined us at The Otter Otterbourne last night for the England game.

What an atmosphere — the pub was absolutely buzzing, and it was brilliant to see so many great customers, friends and families enjoying the night together.

Everyone loved it, and we can’t wait to do it all again for the next game.
