The cafe uses surplus food that would otherwise go to waste and provides nutritious vegan meals and a safe, warm space to the local community. More specifically, we are a community cafe providing a focal point for groups and individuals to meet and socialise in a friendly and supportive environment. We see the purpose of the Cafe as being a place for promoting a vegan and environmental message, as
well as fostering strong community ties, combating social isolation and providing access to a nutritious hot meal for people hit by the cost of living crisis. All our meals are cooked from scratch, using fresh ingredients that would otherwise end up in landfill. The Cafe is not-for-profit and is run entirely by volunteers. Meals are free but donations are welcome from those who can afford them. Many of our customers come from disadvantaged groups and for the past year we have also been running as an officially recognised Warm space for the winter months.
