Good morning,
I have been asked what breed lays the Pale blue hint of blue egg on our tray :-
It is our Cream crested leg bar we breed. 🐣
I believe they are now under Rare Breed Survival Trust categorizes the broader Legbar family (which includes the Cream Legbar) on their watchlist.
Here are a few more fascinating facts about these chickens:
Cream Crested leg-bar Lays a blue to soft turquoise-green eggs, each hen can lay one type of shade, the overall flock can produce a pastel blue to light olive-green eggs.
(Ours we breed are light blue)
The Cream legbar is a small to medium size breed and has a slim body shape with a long neck and a small head(Girls usually having a crown like little tufted of feathers on their heads).
They have a triangular face with a straight beak and large, bright red wattles and comb.
They are friendly and curious ☺️They are an active breed, constantly foraging, and exploring their surroundings.
They are often docile, easy to handle, making them a great breed for families with children.
They are social birds and enjoy the company of other chickens. If properly socialized, they will happily share a coop with other breeds and integrate easily into a mixed flock.
Egg-laying Abilities
One of the most impressive traits of the Cream Legbar is its egg-laying abilities. They are considered a high-production breed, meaning they lay a large number of eggs throughout the year.
The eggs are a light blue to green color with a cream undertone, making them highly sought after by egg enthusiasts,to have rainbow colour eggs in their egg basket In addition to being visually striking.
