On August 30 we are hosting a fundraiser for South Shields Volunteer Life Brigade (SSVLB)

Helen Rodgers who is our amazing friend and regular is wanting to raise as much money as possible and in her own words has said:

“You know they have been knocking about helping us all since 1866. 160 years. And it seems we need them more than ever right now.

I’d say we all know someone who has witnessed their compassion, bravery and kindness. Strangers who get out of bed at all hours, leave parties and leisure activities, even their own loved ones to go and help ours, when they need them most of all”

We will have entertainment throughout the day including live music. Also any businesses or people who would like to kindly donate prizes for raffles on the day, please get in touch.

Take a look back almost 100 years at what is now our lounge.

The earliest photo we've managed to find dates back to 1930, when the building was J. Gaddes Post Office. Fast forward to the 1960s, and it had become apart of The Locomotive, which was a Vaux pub that many will remember fondly.

Today as The Steamboat, our lounge continues to be a place where memories are made while celebrating the history that came before it.
In fact, a little piece of that history is still with us.

Next time you're in, have a look above the bar and see if you can spot the original Post Office plaques that have been proudly displayed all these years. Nearly 100 years on, we're proud to keep the story of this building alive ❤️
