Not actually sure what to say about The Forbidden Corner - Official !

For anyone that’s been you will know what I mean! For those that haven’t you NEED to go to find out what in the world it’s all about!

The strangest, weirdest, mismatch of crazy stuff going on. Twists, turns, doors to nowhere, tunnels to somewhere, surprises and scares round every corner.

It will take you around 3 hours to do properly including using the app to find the hidden coins.

A brilliant day out!

Recently we enjoyed a family day out to Grange Over Sands.

Never been before and I was impressed!

What a gorgeous spot.

The promenade was perfect for the kids on the bikes. It’s 2km long so you can get a good walk or ride along it with them.

There’s plenty of cafes and ice cream stops to refuel too.

Also a park which is an absolute win.

We had lunch in a lovely cafe just off the main car park called The Coffee Pot which looked out over the bay.

If you time it right you can watch the tide come in too which apparently is pretty spectacular as it’s so quick.

Have you been? What else would you recommend whilst there?

Always a gorgeous time to walk up Farnhill Pinnacle.

A super easy hill climb for little ones, amazing views, free parking and the secret cafe… The Crag & Coffee.

A fab one to do this weekend with the kids.

Let me know if you want the route info!

A total hidden gem!

We revisited Cononley Park this week and had it all to ourselves 😃

Suitable for all ages, there’s loads to do for little ones and big ones.

The little road with markings around the playground is super cute and he loves zooming round then down the little hill towards the band stand.

The playground has a sand pit area, slide, tunnel, swing, tractor, roundabout and a hugeeee climbing frame with slide which he did manage to get up with a little help.

The big ones can zoom off on their scooters play on the football pitch, in and out of the basketball court and on the skate park.

Hours of free fun!

Plus they can watch the many trains go past.

Top park! Give me your best local ones?

If you are wanting something a little different this summer then head to Gisburn Forest - Forestry England for the Room on the Broom trail.

A super short easy walk (takes around 45 minutes) so ideal for the little ones to get out in the fresh air.

Walk around the woods following the trail arrows and stopping at the boards to complete the activities.

You can buy a kit from the cafe van for £4 but it is optional and not really required to complete the trail. I do find though that the boys get on along better if they have something to fill in whilst going around though. Who doesn’t love a lanyard!

There is a small obstacle course playground at the cafe centre plus toilets in the car park.

The trail is not pram friendly.

Our go to treat place!

So when the eldest got star of the week we had to head up for an ice cream as tradition.

Too many ice cream flavours to choose from, way too many outdoor playground climbing and sliding spaces, and far too much fun to be had in the play barns!

Get this on the list for the summer holidays.

Short easy walks with a little bit of something extra to get your little ones into enjoying walking. If like mine they need all the added excitement then this is the list for you!

Don’t forget the snack bag!

💚 Pinhaw Beacon - on Carleton Moor the route up to Pinhaw Beacon is a gradual incline up. A good one to introduce them to their future love of trig points! Just under 1 mile long.

💚 Farnhill Pinnacle - parking on Grange Road following the track up a gentle gradient to the Pinnacle offers lovely views, plenty of bracken to hide in plus as a treat on the way back down. 1.4 miles long.

💚 Linton Falls - from the car park at either Linton or Grassington the walk to the footbridge over the waterfalls is short. From here you can walk up to the pebble beach at the hydro plant to throw stones in the water. 0.8 mile toddle.

💚 Middleton Woods, Ilkley - free parking in the lay-by on Denton Road. A general loop exploring the woods is around a mile then you can cross the road and footbridge and head to the pebbly beach for a picnic after. Wellies recommended.

💚 Embsay reservoir - an easy circular walk around the reservoir. Lots of benches for snack stops and puddles for jumping (make sure you go anti-clockwise so these are last). 1 mile long.

💚 Barden bridge to Aqueduct - free parking in the lay-by at Barden bridge this easy flat walk follows the river to the aqueduct before climbing up and over it and through the magic tunnel. 1.2 miles long.

💚 Redcar Tarn - on the tops of Steeton this flat circular walk around the tarn is 1/3 of a mile so you can do as many laps as you want. Lots of ducks and geese to feed/wave at.

💚 Ilkley Tarn - a walk up from Wells Road up and around the tarn and back. A seated shelter at the top to watch the ducks plus lots of big rocks to climb on. Under a mile long.

Where’s your favourite short walk with your toddler?

The BRAND NEW pump track in Burley in Wharfedale is now open!

We went on opening weekend to test it out and WOW it’s amazing!!

So much bigger than most of the local ones which is great for my eldest. He asks every week when can we go back again??

It’s was super busy though which is great as it’s going to be a valuable asset to the village and surrounding areas. So if taking my youngest I would go in the week.

The pump track is located in The Rec. Parking can be a little tricky but it’s free on the main road through the village. You can then nip down to the Rec along one of the side streets by foot (York Road by the Coop being one).

Have you visited yet?

Have you tried the Mimpish Squimbles trail along Ingleborough Estate Nature Trail yet?

It is a mile long accessible beautiful walk alongside a lake and up through the trees.

These mythical creatures and their homes have been lovingly created by local school children, creative partners and nature lovers to create something so unique.

Fuel up at the Old Saw Mill Cafe to boost those energy levels so you can run it off along the trail.

The boys absolutely loved this trail last summer and exploring everywhere. The park in the village is also a major hit!

Did you know there was a Lego cafe in Bingley??!

Right in the centre of Bingley, on the main T junction by the railway station is the cafe. Prime spot.

You can grab a bite to eat or drink whilst creating a Lego creation.

There’s a menu of Lego builds to choose from ranging in price dependent on time taken to complete. Or you can go off piste and choice a freestyle one where you can make whatever you like.

There’s also a little area dedicated to the younger ones with some duplo.

Plenty of Lego sets to purchase too.

Both my boys love it here and it’s so nice to just sit back and enjoy a coffee while they are in the Lego making zone for atleast half hour!
