Shrewsbury CAMRA B**r Festival is proud to support Team Cleo
A night of orchestral masterpieces at Saints Church, Wellington on Saturday 3 October....
Some of the most popular pieces of classical music 🎶 will be coming to Wellington courtesy of Shropshire Chamber Orchestra...raising money for Team Cleo and the ongoing Organ Restoration project at the church.
The programme will include Haydn Trumpet Concerto (one of my favourites!) and Schumann Symphony No. 1 in B-flat Major, Op. 38 ('Spring')
Shropshire Chamber Orchestra is a group of enthusiastic musicians who came together to perform music. Part of their programme of concerts is to help raise money for charities. The orchestra grew out of a collaboration between Shifnal Chorale and the Telford Orchestra.
The Retiring Collection will be in aid of the Team Cleo Fund which is a fundraising initiative established to support The Brain Tumour Charity in honour of Cleo Postlethwaite, who was diagnosed with a rare brain tumour. Cleo passed away in March 2019, and her parents, Jane and Alex, created the fund to raise money for research into paediatric brain tumours, as there is currently no cure for such tumours. The fund has raised significant amounts, with contributions from family, friends, and local events, aiming to raise awareness and funds for research efforts.
Restoring the historic pipe organ at All Saints Parish Church will bring this wonderful instrument back into full working order, enabling the congregation and wider community to enjoy it for generations to come. The restored organ will enrich worship and enhance Wellington’s cultural life through concerts, recitals and tuition—opportunities currently limited by its condition.
Hope to see you there 💚
Start time 7:30pm | Tickets £10 | Children free.
