Notice of upcoming works

We want to let our berth holders and visitors know about upcoming essential works at Ipswich Beacon Marina.

From Monday 13 July 2026, we will carry out refurbishment works to the marina lock gates and surrounding infrastructure. This forms part of a £500,000 investment to keep the marina safe, reliable and fit for the future.

To complete this work, the marina lock will need to close for up to 12 days. During this period, there will be no vessel access into or out of the marina.

We know this falls during a busy time of year and we looked closely at delaying the works. However, doing so would increase the risk of an unplanned failure, which would lead to a longer and more disruptive closure. Acting now allows a controlled programme with a clear timeframe.

Our teams will work extended hours, including weekends, to complete the works as quickly as possible. We will also take steps to reduce noise and minimise disruption.

A second, smaller phase of works will take place later in the year during the off-season. We will share details closer to the time.

Thank you for your patience and understanding while we complete these essential upgrades.

If you have any questions, please contact the marina team at [email protected].

🌅Planning to enjoy the water this Bank Holiday? Please stay safe and only swim in designated areas.

Jumping from piers, quays and port structures is extremely dangerous. Hidden obstructions beneath the surface can cause serious injury, and jumping into busy waterways may also put other water users, including small boats and paddlecraft, at risk.

If you’re heading outdoors this weekend, stay sun safe, look out for one another and enjoy the water responsibly. 🌊☀️
