Happy Thai Mother’s Day 🇹🇭💙

Today, 12 August, is Thai Mother’s Day.

In Thailand, Mother’s Day is much more than a celebration. It is a day that reflects something deeply rooted in Thai culture: gratitude, respect, family, and caring for the generations before us.

Traditionally, children may kneel and pay respect to their mothers, offer jasmine flowers as a symbol of a mother’s love, return home to spend time with family, and simply share a meal together.

Because in Thai families, love is often expressed through actions rather than words.

It can be as simple as:

“Have you eaten?”
“Are you hungry?”
“I’ll make something for you.”

Food has always been part of how Thai families care for one another.
Recipes, flavours and the meals we grew up eating often carry memories of home — and of the people who looked after us.

Happy Thai Mother’s Day from all of us at Hungry Monkey. 🇹🇭💙
