In response to Marmalade Trust loneliness awareness week I felt inspired to host a 'drop in' cuppa, cake & chat - I've invited some folks over and encouraged them to bring someone along that they've been thinking about and who would appreciate some company and connection.

Ask anyone to picture a lonely person and most will imagine an older person living on their own.

And if asked, most might be inclined to say ‘loneliness doesn’t apply to me’.

But here’s the truth … loneliness happens to all of us at some point in our lives.

It’s that lonely feeling when …

You lose someone
You just feel different
You lose your job
Your friends have moved away
You’re a first time parent
You’re struggling to cope
When you are in a crowd
You are being bullied
You’re looking for the love of your life
You’ve lost a much loved pet
You’ve relocated to a new town
You look different
You experience prejudice
You can’t afford it
You are going through a change
You are a carer
You don’t speak the language
Your children have left home
You’re left out
You feel invisible
You can’t leave the house
You’re ghosted
You just want a chat
You’ve started a new job and miss your old colleagues
You need a hug

Does any of that relate?

There’s nothing shameful about loneliness.

As part of this loneliness awareness week, I invite you to reach out to someone and offer some love and kindness through your baking. ❤️

Have a beautiful weekend being you ...

I don't know about you but I've come slowly [and painfully] to the realisation of how I've been conditioned to value my worth by what I 'do'. The goals I achieve and what I've got to show for my time.

And the constant comparing myself to others. And we all know that isn't going to end well do we because compare = despair 😩

Being who I am ... being who you are ... is enough
