Today’s the day we drive our beautiful Frankie down to London to settle her into university. 🥹❤️
Don’t get me wrong, I’m going to be so sad to see her go, but what an incredible opportunity she’s been blessed with and we genuinely couldn’t be any prouder of her. She’s worked so hard to get here and she absolutely deserves every bit of what’s ahead of her.
Frankie, I honestly don’t know where the years have gone. It feels like only yesterday you were little, and now we’re driving you off to London to start this amazing new chapter of your life. I’m going to miss you more than you’ll ever know, but I want you to go, enjoy every second, make memories, meet amazing people and most importantly, believe in yourself. You’re capable of anything you put your mind to and I couldn’t be prouder to call you my girl. ❤️
Go and be amazing, Frankie. We’ll always be right here cheering you on, no matter how far away you are. Love you more than words can say. ❤️

Meet the Team ❤️
This is Frankie! Not only is she our daughter, but she’s also been a much-valued member of the team here at the café.
Since starting with us, she’s really come out of her shell, grown in confidence and absolutely blossomed — and we couldn’t be more proud of her. 🥰
Today, though, was her last day with us as she heads off on a new adventure and leaves for university down in London. 🎓✨
Don’t worry, though… she’ll be back at Christmas, and we’ll always have a space for her here at the café. We’ll even keep the pot wash free for you, Frankie — don’t worry! 😉😂
So, let’s give Frankie a huge congratulations and wish her all the very best for this exciting new chapter. We know you’re going to smash it! ❤️

☕ Meet the Team! — Little Boss & Big Boss ☕
Candice & Floyd ❤️
We thought it was about time we introduced ourselves properly!
Floyd, our Big Boss, is certainly no stranger to catering or the café. He’s worked as a chef for most of his career and spent many years working here at the café, so he knows the place — and his job — inside out! And, although I may be a little biased, he’s pretty good at what he does too! 😉👨‍🍳
Then there’s me, Candice — the Little Boss! Before taking on the café, I spent most of my working life in care. It was something I enjoyed with a real passion, but after many years, it started to take its toll, and I knew it was time for a change.
And here we are! ❤️
Taking on the café has been one heck of a year. We’ve had our highs and our lows, staff coming and going, plenty of challenges and plenty of moments that have made us smile. But through it all, it has also been an absolute blessing and an opportunity that we will forever be grateful for.
One of the biggest joys has been having our own older children working alongside us, as well as our fantastic team of staff who help make the café what it is. We genuinely couldn’t do it without them. 🥰
We can’t wait to bring you more great food, plenty of lovely coffees, and lots more events that we hope will bring you some joy, excitement and good times.
And honestly… this is only the beginning! ✨
To all our customers, old and new, we really can’t thank you enough for your continued support. It means more to us than you probably realise.
So, if you see us in the café, please come and say hello! We’ll always welcome a chat, a few laughs, and plenty of smiles whenever we can. ❤️

TripAdvisor reviews really are the good, the bad and the ugly 🫣😂 — thankfully, mostly good… with the occasional “well, you can’t please everyone” thrown into the mix!
Now, Malcolm L’s review has certainly given me something to ponder! 🤔
Depending on when this visit took place — and knowing that Wednesday this week was our busiest day — I do wonder if Malcolm took a little trip up to the till to politely ask one of our lovely team about the delay?
Because… 3 for value, 1 for service, 1 for atmosphere and 1 for staff?! 😳🫣
I mean, we know we can’t get it right every single time. We’re human, not robots (although on Wednesdays, sometimes I wish we were! 😂). But one for atmosphere and staff does feel a tiny bit harsh!
And this is the bit that really baffles me… if something isn’t quite right during your visit, PLEASE TELL US! 🙏
We genuinely want the opportunity to sort things out. We can’t fix something we don’t know about — and once you’ve gone home, had a cup of tea, reflected on your experience and then decided to unleash the TripAdvisor score… well, there’s not a lot we can do about it then! 😂
Running a café is hard work. Myself and my husband put everything into it, and so do our amazing team. We care enormously about what we do, from the coffee we serve to the food we put on the table and the atmosphere we create.
So yes, Malcolm, we’ll take the feedback… even if those four little scores of 1 did make us collectively raise an eyebrow! 👀😂
Thankfully, one grumpy review amongst lots and lots of lovely ones isn't going to keep us awake at night.
We’ll carry on doing what we do — serving what we believe is great coffee ☕️, delicious food 🍰, and creating a warm, welcoming place where hopefully 99.9% of you leave happier than when you arrived. ❤️
And to everyone who takes the time to leave us a lovely review, recommend us to friends, come back again and again, or simply tell us face-to-face how much you enjoyed your visit…

All of us here at Smiths Priory Maze Café would like to say a huge thank you to Casablanca for joining us and filling the café with some fantastic music! ❤️🎤
It was such a shame the rain put a bit of a dampener on things 🌧️ and kept the crowds away, but that certainly didn’t stop us from having a great time! We absolutely loved having you here and really enjoyed the music. 🥰🎵
Hopefully next time we’ll have sunshine, a bigger crowd and a much more lively atmosphere! ☀️🙌

Meet the Team! 💕☕️
This is our Grace! 🥰
Not only is she our daughter, but we’re also very lucky to have her as part of our café team. Watching her grow in confidence since she started with us has been so lovely to see, and we honestly couldn’t be prouder of her.
Grace is enthusiastic, hardworking and genuinely loves being at the café. She’s come on leaps and bounds and has developed such lovely customer service skills. She’s bright, bubbly, friendly and always happy for a chat — sometimes we think she enjoys talking to the customers a little too much! 😂❤️
She really is a little ray of sunshine and such a lovely asset to our team. We love seeing her enjoy her job and become more confident every day.
So, if you pop into the café and Grace is there, please do say hello! She’ll be more than happy to have a chat, and hopefully she’ll give you the same warm welcome that she gives everyone who walks through our doors. 💕

Reviews like this are exactly why we love what we do at the café! ❤️☕️
Let’s be honest, running a café isn’t always plain sailing. Some days are a little chaotic, the odd customer leaves less than impressed, and occasionally the day just seems to have other plans! 😂
But that’s all part and parcel of the job — and we wouldn’t change it.
What makes it all worthwhile is knowing that people come through our doors, enjoy great food, good coffee and a warm welcome, and leave with a smile. 😊
Making our customers happy is, and always will be, our number one priority.
So when we receive lovely reviews like this, it gives the whole team a little boost and reminds us exactly why we do what we do. ❤️

Bank Holiday Saturday 🎶☕️
Join us at the café on Saturday 29th August, from 3–6pm, for the wonderful Casablanca, playing music from the fabulous 1930s and 1940s.
We’ll be serving our normal menu until 5pm, along with our afternoon tea, which can also be pre-ordered.
If you love the music, style and atmosphere of this wonderful era, we’d love to see you at the café for an afternoon of great music, good food and fantastic company. ❤️
