We were very fortunate to be invited to have a tour and lunch on board The Kirkella by one of our suppliers Collins Seafoods Limited.

The Kirkella is one of Britain’s most advanced frozen-at-sea factory trawlers, based in Hull and operating in the cold waters of the Barents Sea, Greenland and the North Atlantic. Specialising in cod and haddock, the vessel catches, fillets, freezes and packs fish on board within around 40 minutes of landing it, locking in freshness before returning to port weeks later. With state-of-the-art technology, a crew of around 30, and storage for up to 780 tonnes of frozen fish, the Kirkella plays a key role in supplying high-quality white fish to the UK’s fish and chip industry while minimising waste by using almost every part of the catch.
