🚨 REMINDER — WE'RE CLOSED TOMORROW! 🚨

Just a little reminder that Keel's Caff will be closed tomorrow, Friday 10th July, as we're hosting a Paediatric First Aid Training Day here at the Caff. 🩹❤️

The good news is... we still have places available! 🙌

For just £30 per person, you'll receive:

🩺 A full day of paediatric first aid training

💛 A little board... with a huge heart. 💛

Every time I walk past our Pay It Forward board, it reminds me just how incredible this community is.

Every week, local businesses, families, regular customers, first-time visitors, children and pensioners choose to leave a little kindness behind for someone they've never met.

A hot drink.
A milkshake.
A breakfast.
A grilled sandwich.
A jacket potato.
A packet of crisps.
A children's meal.

One small act of generosity at a time.

Back in January, we introduced our Pay It Forward board. Just six months later, well over £350 has been given through the scheme. Every single penny has come from people who simply wanted to make somebody else's day a little easier.

There are no questions.
There is no judgement.
There is no embarrassment.

Just a simple invitation:

"If you need it today, someone's got you covered."

Above the board in the caff are the words:

❤️ "You Are Loved."

And what a beautiful way to experience that love... knowing that someone you've never met believed you were worth buying a meal for.

To every person who's ever added something to this board...

Thank you.

You've done far more than buy food or drinks.

You've reminded people that kindness still exists, that community is alive and well, and that sometimes hope looks like a hot meal and a friendly smile.

This is exactly what Keel's Caff is all about.

Some give.
Some receive.

But everyone belongs. 💛

🚑 Important Notice. Keel's Caff will be closed on Friday 10th July 🚑

Instead of serving coffee and cake, we'll be spending the day learning skills that could one day save a child's life.

We're hosting a Paediatric First Aid Training Day, and we're opening it up to the community with 8 places available.

For £30 per person, you'll receive:
✅ Full day's paediatric first aid training
✅ Certificate on successful completion
✅ Course workbook
✅ Complimentary refreshments throughout the day, including standard tea & coffee, chilled squash and water

You'll also be able to purchase upgraded drinks and food from our menu at lunchtime if you'd like.

Whether you're a parent, grandparent, volunteer, childminder, youth worker, or simply want the confidence to know what to do in an emergency, this is practical, valuable training that could make a real difference when it matters most.

🎻🎶 Who would be up for a Community Folk Night at Keel's Caff? 🎶🎻

We've had some beautiful live music in the caff today, and it got us thinking...

What if we brought together the musicians, singers and songwriters in our community for a relaxed evening of music?

Whether you play guitar, fiddle, mandolin, banjo, ukulele, whistle, nyckelharpa, cajón, sing, write songs, or just love joining in, we'd love to see what we could create together.

No pressure. No auditions. No stage fright required.

Just good people, good music, and a warm, welcoming space to make some noise together.

We're thinking a Friday evening, perhaps 6pm–8pm (or a little later if everyone is having a great time!).

📢 A Quick Update from Keel's Caff 📢

Unfortunately, we've made the decision to cancel tomorrow evening's Keel Table.

With temperatures set to soar over the next few days, we feel it's the right call for the comfort and wellbeing of everyone involved. Keel Table is all about sitting together, sharing a meal, and enjoying good company, and we'd rather postpone than have people feeling uncomfortable in the heat.

Thank you for your understanding, and we'll announce a new date soon.

☀️🎲 Bottomless Board Games is STILL ON this Saturday! 🎲☀️

For everyone who has already booked, we're really looking forward to spending the day gaming with you.

One advantage of Keel's Caff is that the building tends to stay noticeably cooler than the temperatures outside, thanks to its position and layout. We're also looking at additional fans to keep the air moving and help everyone stay comfortable throughout the day.

As an extra little bonus, we're adding bottomless chilled squash to BOTH ticket levels, so there'll be plenty of cold drinks available alongside the usual refreshments.

🎨💙 FATHER'S DAY CRAFT FUN 💙🎨

A huge well done to all of our young creatives who joined us on Thursday to make something special for Father's Day!

We loved seeing the imagination, effort and care that went into every single creation. From colourful decorations to personalised keepsakes, each one was completely unique and made with love.

We hope all the dads, grandads, stepdads and father figures who received these treasured gifts had a wonderful Father's Day and enjoyed seeing the amazing work their young people created just for them.

Thank you to everyone who came along and made the afternoon such a lovely one. Seeing children create, laugh and take pride in what they've made is exactly why we love running these events.

Keep an eye on our page for future craft sessions, where children can enjoy a hot meal, get creative, make new friends and take home something special to treasure.

UPDATE: Thank you everyone! We have now found somebody to help us with our admin needs and are no longer actively looking. We're absolutely blown away by the number of people who got in touch offering their time, skills and support. Thank you all so much 💛

💛 A Little Help Needed 💛

I love what I do.

I love cooking. I love chatting to people. I love creating a place where people can belong. I love seeing friendships form over a cup of tea, a board game, or a meal shared together.

What I don't love quite so much is admin.

As Keel's Caff continues to grow and we work with more organisations, funding opportunities, community projects and support services, the amount of administration is growing too. To be completely honest, it's starting to take me away from the parts of the role that I'm actually good at and enjoy.

So I'm putting out a bit of a call for help.

Is there anyone who might be willing to volunteer a few hours a week to help with administration and PA-style tasks?

This could include:
• Helping manage and respond to emails
• Keeping track of actions and deadlines
• Helping put policies and documents together
• Chasing up bits of paperwork
• Occasionally giving me a gentle nudge when something needs doing!

Unfortunately, we're not in a position to pay for this role. Truth be told, I'm not even paying myself yet. This would be a volunteer position for somebody who believes in what we're building and would like to be part of helping Keel's Caff continue to grow.

If admin, organisation, paperwork and keeping things running smoothly are your thing, I'd genuinely love to hear from you.

By helping with the paperwork behind the scenes, you'd be helping me spend more time doing what I do best: feeding people, supporting people, and creating a place where everyone belongs.
