THE CAPONATA

We’re trying really hard here to have a Summer menu reshuffle but the weather is really holding us back. But the Caponata is our first mover. It’s a re-hash of a classic Sicilian pasta dish and features a rich tomato and basil sauce with mixed olives and capers, mozzarella, roasted aubergines a gentle dusting of chilli flakes. Finished with a handful of toasted pine nuts. She’s pretty dam tasty.
A vegan version is available either without cheese or with vegan mozzarella as you prefer.
We have a few more seasonal changes up our sleeves for when the weather really warms up. Stay tuned.

We’re looking for an experienced & exceptional FOH professional to work 25-40 hrs/week in our thriving Pizzeria & Gelateria on Sharrow Vale Road. Friendly and professional, resilient and reliable, you need to be able to maintain high standards in a fast-paced environment.
We offer a secure contract at up to £16/hr (depending on experience) + paid holiday + tips (~£3/hr). Weekend & Evening working is essential and there are opportunities for progression.

It’s still ages away but it’s also just around the corner!

Last year we got a few grumbles about not taking table bookings for Christmas Dos, so this year we’ve decided to dedicate 1 table each evening for Christmas bookings.

We will be able to accommodate parties of up to 8 with seating times of 5pm ,6.30pm & 8pm (excl Fridays and Saturdays) all the way through December.

Last year we got quite a few grumbles about not taking bookings for Christmas dos, so this year we’ve decided to dedicate 1 table each evening for Christmas party bookings.

Table bookings for parties of up to 8 people Sunday through to Thursday. Seating times will be 5/6.30/8pm.

For Summer we have a return of all 3 of our buffalo mozzarella pizzas, that’s the KING Buffalo with bresaola, torn buffalo & herby pesto and our vegetarian version the QUEEN Buffalo with artichoke hearts, torn buffalo & herby pesto. And of course, the VEGAN QUEEN

OUR GELATO

What a glorious day! And a good time to reintroduce you all to our fabulous homemade gelato.
This time last year, on the eve of us moving into our new premises, I took a trip to Tuscany and enrolled on a 5 day course to learn how to make gelato .official - we then splashed the cash on 2 pieces of expensive second hand gelato-making equipment. If you’ve ever been to Italy and had amazing gelato you’ll appreciate why we wanted to add this to our brand new pizzeria
Now a lot of people make gelato but sadly there really aren’t that many places making gelato from REAL ingredients. What do I mean by real? I mean if I make a banana or almond or cheesecake gelato it gets it’s flavour from real bananas, almonds & cream cheese. It does not get its flavour from an artificial flavour paste that I bought from a large ice cream/gelato ingredient supplier (which is sadly typical of how many ice cream or gelato makers in the UK & Italy make their flavours).
This natural route is a much more labour intensive and clever craft. Instead of making a basic mix and adding a set amount of different flavour pastes, we carefully taste and balance our real ingredients and combine them with locally produced milk and cream to make a gelato that tastes the way it does because it has the ingredients you think should be in it. It is authentic it the real sense of the word.

We are still learning and trying to create new flavours every week. Sometimes they’re amazing first time, sometimes they need a little tweaking for flavour or consistency and are better the second or third time we make them. Each week we are moving forward. Pictured is this weeks new flavour - Orange mascarpone & amaretti. Containing… you guessed it, real orange, real mascarpone, real amaretti biscuits and a sprinkling of toasted almonds for good measure. Enjoy
