MEET THE MAYFIELD FAMILY | HONEY

It’s Thursday, which means it’s time to introduce another lovely member of our Mayfield family!

Today, we’d love you to meet Honey, our beautiful Pygmy goat and proud mum to Pepper and Peaches!

Honey and her two daughters joined Mayfield in February 2024, when they were the only goats on the farm.

Being a protective mum, Honey took a little while to feel comfortable around the other goats. She was also quite shy around people and preferred to keep her distance.

But things are changing!

Over time, Honey has slowly become more confident and sociable, learning to trust both people and her fellow goats. She’s still a protective mum, but we’re seeing more and more of her curious and playful personality coming through!

We love watching Honey grow in confidence and feel more at home with her Mayfield family.

Next time you visit, keep an eye out for Honey, Pepper and Peaches!

MEET THE MAYFIELD FAMILY – BOWSER

Say hello to Bowser, one of the newest members of the Mayfield family!

Bowser is an Anglo Nubian goat, born in January 2025, and he came to us after being kindly donated by a lovely local family.

Bowser settled in swiftly at his new home here and quickly asserted himself as the new man around town 🙂

He’s incredibly friendly, playful and affectionate, absolutely loves human company and is always happiest when there’s someone around to give him a bit of attention.

You might even spot Bowser and his little gang casually strolling around the farm alongside one of our team — sometimes without a lead or collar. He clearly thinks he works here too. 😂

🎃 HALLOWEEN AT MAYFIELD ALPACA FARM! 👻

Get ready for 8 days of spooky farm fun at Mayfield Alpaca Farm!

This Halloween, we’re bringing pumpkins, costumes and plenty of festive family fun to the farm.

🧡 Follow our Mayfield Pumpkin Trail around the farm
🎨 Little ones can decorate mini pumpkins and Halloween decorations at our crafts stalls
📸 Take a Halloween photo at our special photo area
👻 Dress up and enter our Halloween Costume Competition – with a Farm Experience for the family up for grabs!
⚖️ Have a go at Guess the Pumpkin Weight – and you could win a Farm Experience!
☕ And look out for some spooky treats in the café!

The Pumpkin Trail is included with normal farm admission, with mini pumpkin decorating and Halloween crafts available at a small extra cost.

Join our Halloween competitions for your chance to win a Mayfield Farm Experience for the family and/or friends!

MEET THE MAYFIELD FAMILY – MALCOM

If there’s one Mayfield resident who knows how to make friends, it’s Malcom!

Born in 2012, Malcom is a New Zealand Hog with a huge personality. He’s super friendly, fearless, brave and absolutely LOVES human attention.

Malcom and his late brother Alan were rescued by Sheffield City Council from a one-bedroom flat in Lowedges before finding their home here at Mayfield.

Since then, Malcom has become a bit of a local celebrity. If he had Facebook, we’re pretty sure he’d have thousands of friends and followers!

He loves to forage, he loves his food… but most of all, he loves affection.

MEET THE MAYFIELD FAMILY – PINKY

Meet Pinky, our playful, hungry and very clever Kunekune pig!

Pinky came to Mayfield in April 2024 and has certainly made himself at home. He’s a friendly chap and will often come over to the fence when you call his name — especially if he thinks food might be involved!

One of Pinky’s absolute favourite things is a good head scratch, so don’t be shy if you see him during your visit.

Like many of our animals, Pinky is a rescue, and we’re very happy that Mayfield is now his home.
