It’s Mental Health Awareness Week and I thought I’d start by sharing my top 5 tips/ tools. We all have mental health and just like our physical health we have ups and downs. We can be flourishing or languishing or somewhere in between.

- Focusing on the breath is the quickest and easiest way to come back to calm. It switches off our stress response and comes back to rest and digest.

- If you are feeling overwhelmed, or your head is full of thoughts. Come back to now. Focus on what you are doing right now. Not tomorrow or this week, or dwell on the past. Now.
If it helps say “I am safe”.

- Find activities that recharge you, that you enjoy and make time for them. You’ve heard the saying - you can’t pour from an empty cup and it’s so true.

- Move more. Movement triggers the release of various hormones and neurotransmitters that improve mood, reduce pain, and boost energy.

- Get out in nature. Walk around the garden, a park or green space and notice what you see, hear and smell.
