5+5 Triple Aged Rum 40.0%

Rums from Barbados and Guyana are matured in American oak casks for five years in the Caribbean, before being transported to Jerez where they are matured for a further 5 years in solera systems of Dos Cortados Palo Cortado Sherry casks and then also Don Guido Pedro Ximénez Sherry casks. This rum has a heavily sherried character, with intensely fruity flavours filling the palate. Notes of molasses, vanilla, cinnamon and nutmeg build and mingle with spicy orange peel and cloves. The finish is rich and dark, full of chocolate and coffee flavours.

It's been a long time coming but our monthly spirit tasting nights hosted by the wonderful folks at are back kicking off in 2 weeks time with a simple introduction to Scottish whisky.

Tickets go on sale today for the first and then the day after each tasting for the next (£20 on sale at the bar).

We're back ready for today's SWFC home fixture and we've got plenty of cask ales, keg beers and spirits to stop the weather from dampening the mood.

Bottle Whisky Distillery
Alchemy Series, Double Cask 46.3%

One of two initial releases in the Black Bottle Alchemy Series, Double Cask brings together malt whiskies finished in Spanish sherry casks with grain whisky aged in red wine casks. Boasting heavy red fruit influence, though well balanced by subtle whiffs of toasted sugar and savoury nuts.
On the nose there's blackcurrants, damsons, Seville oranges, walnuts and coffee cake. Whilst on the palate it is softly spicy and warming, with notes of cherries, raspberries and a layer of vanilla cream. On the finish there's toasted brown sugar, runny toffee and a final hint of red berry brightness.

Well the weather is holding off for now and SWFC are at home this evening but it's a Tuesday so we're pushing ahead with our weekly quiz night. Our resident Quiz Master Dave will be in the house from 8.30PM with those all important general knowledge questions.

For us on the bar we've got plenty to dig in to across our wide range of cask ales, keg beers and spirits which will be available until 11PM tonight.

Palo Cortado Sherry Cask Finish
11 year Old 48.0%

This limited edition Speyside single malt is part of Glenallachie's 'Wood Collection' range. It was matured for 11 years in hogsheads that had previously held Palo Portado sherry, and is layered with notes of ripe plums, dark mocha and warming cinnamon. On the nose there's cinnamon, floral honey, damsons and buttery caramel, with raisin-studded fudge and a touch of ginger in tow. Whilst on the palate you find layers of dark hedgerow fruits, maraschino cherries, with jammy berries joining toasty notes of honeycomb. On the finish notes of dark chocolate, plum jam and treacle toffee linger.
