Middlewood U8s Blues kicked off their season in spectacular style with a performance full of energy, determination, and some stunning goals. Right from the first whistle, the Blues were on the front foot, showing confidence and creating chance after chance. There were efforts raining in from all angles, keeping the opposition keeper busy.
The breakthrough came when Reuben calmly slotted home a well-taken penalty, setting the tone for what was to be a fantastic morning for him.
Zak had a number of efforts on goal and was eventually rewarded with a well-earned goal. Ezra also tested the opposition keeper with a strong strike, only to be denied by a great save.
From a well-delivered corner by Zak, Max was in the right place to fire home. Zak then doubled his tally with another composed finish before Max added a screamer of his own – a goal to remember!
The opposition came out strong in the second half and managed to pull one back in the opening minutes. But the Blues stood firm. Harry made a crucial tackle to stop another attack, showing great timing and bravery.
Reuben then added to his tally with a superb goal and followed it up with yet another – a brilliant solo effort that showcased his talent and determination.
The opposition threatened again, winning a corner, but Caleb was up to the challenge, making a brilliant save. A goal-line clearance by an opposition defender denied the Blues another, and Stanley showed fantastic defensive awareness to clear the ball.
Caleb made another fine save late on to keep the Blues in control. Stanley then got on the scoresheet himself with a brilliantly taken free-kick that flew past the wall and into the net.
Just before the final whistle, Reuben capped off an incredible performance with his fourth goal of the game – sealing a strong start to the season.
All the boys played brilliantly, showing great team spirit, skill, and effort throughout. But it was Reuben’s standout performance, including four goals and tireless play, that earned him the well-deserved Parents’ Player of the Match.
A fantastic start to the season – well done, Middlewood Blues! 💙🖤⚽
