Miss Vic's has been super popular after we reopened for the season .Reminder that this Saturday, 17th May , we are only open to DogFest ticket holders !
Back to normal open to everyone 10 am Sunday, with Ronnie and The Rockitts in the afternoon x

Books, tea and cake in the sun, anyone? Miss Victoria's Refreshment Gardens are looking glorious at this time of year.

With play areas, licensed bar, plant and book stalls, steam trains, delicious homemade cake and hot and cold sandwiches, and Albert the friendly robin hopping about, what more could you possibly want?

Open Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday behind Victoria Hall.

Awwwww, It's coming to the end of Miss Victoria's Refreshment Gardens for 2023, our last day is Saturday 21st Sept . It's time for Ella Dog to put away her ball, and the bakers to stop baking. It's poured and it drizzled and it poured some more, but the fantastic staff kept on smiling through - even when they were getting soaked for the 3rd time in a day .
We've had a folk-punk festival, we've had Shakespeare, we've had musicians , bouncy castles, we've juiced sacks of apples, we've had the Bizarrest Bazaar, and we've eaten our body weight in butties.
We've administered hugs where needed, we've played in the sandpit, and we hope we've helped some people with a caring word or just a place to sit outside ( or in a gazebo !) .
Thank you Jane for managing the cafe , Mo, Anni, Sammy, Lola, Amy, Tom, Jonnie, Will, Tim and Ruby for being jolly and embracing our happy eclectic funny Victoria Hall family ethos. With a special mention for young Charlie who mastered the dishwasher like a ninja, Dave for being recycling monitor ,and Jean who volunteered and made 147 Victoria sponge's ! Not forgetting Wiggy, Lighty Chris, the other Chris and the Lighty Tim for being fixers extraordinaire.
Next year it'll be wall to wall blazing sunshine and we can do even more stuff .
There are plans afoot for the winter use of the Refreshment Gardens field. Look out for that soon x

Miss Victoria's Marvellous Milkshakes!

We're very excited to introduce our newest toy: our milkshake machine. Deliciously thick milkshakes from Shmoo, made with all-natural ingredients, available in chocolate, banana or strawberry. We've tested them thoroughly and they're fantastic!

£2.50 plain or £3 with all the toppings. Perfect for the summer weather!

We are looking for one more fantastic person to join our happy team . 3 days per week which MUST include a weekend day ( please don't ask if you can't do a weekend day ) .
Experience preferred , over 18 as we have a bar . Until mid Sept . Hours can be discussed but nominally 9.30 to 4.30/5 . Could start later but not finish earlier .

Lots of events happening over summer from christenings to festivals - every day different , and every day outdoors . Loads of fun ! Can be busy - no time for your mobile phone (!) Opportunity for extra hours if wanted

The gardens are looking great in the sun!

We're open all weekend, with delicious cakes, locally-sourced sausage and bacon rolls, delicious cakes, really good coffee and more! The bizarre bazaar is now open too, so you can browse for a bargain alongside your coffee and cake. Who's joining us this weekend?

A sure sign that summer is here ( nearly !) .Miss Victoria's Refreshment Gardens will reopen for your delectation and delight next Friday 27th April .
Under the watchful eye if our fab new cafe manager Jane , it'll be the usual mixture of bohemian loveliness and relaxed community vibe you know and love .
Come on down , eat, drink and browse the Bazzar .
Or just hang out and enjoy . X

And with that, the summer is over!

Miss Victoria's Refreshment Gardens will be open today (Tuesday 6 September), Saturday 10 September, Sunday 11 September, and for our apple day on Saturday 17 September. Miss Victoria will then be closing her Refreshment Gardens for the season, as she overwinters on the tropical Yorkshire Riviera. While she will miss her many admirers and devotees terribly, she hopes they will be consoled by the marvellously magnificent autumn-winter programme of shows at Victoria Hall, and by exciting new developments in her Emporium (more details to come forthwith).

A huge thanks to our amazing cafe staff, volunteers, bakers, and to everyone who has been down to visit and enjoy the summer in our "bohemian paradise". We'll see you next summer!

Special Announcement!

Miss Victoria's Refreshment Gardens will be OPEN tomorrow, Wednesday 27th July 12-4.30, with music from the wonderful Furness Music Centre starting at 2.30pm (music indoors if it's pouring!).

Felling HOT HOT HOT 🔥
We've filled the paddling pool in the gardens .
Not Olympic sized , but plenty room for a splash for kids, toe dipping for bigger people, and even space for the dog.
Just make sure the little ones are supervised please !
