At The Hub we aim to provide great quality coffees, teas, cold drinks and food in a friendly comfortable atmosphere at prices that you'll find hard to beat. We are located in the heart of historic Selby in North Yorkshire, close to the beautiful 13th century Abbey and Selby's busy weekly market. The café is locally owned and run, and we aim to source as much as possible of our food locally, with m

any of our suppliers being within walking distance of the café. The exception to our local sourcing policy is our top quality 100% Arabica traditional Italian coffee which we are well known for. Our menu is made up mainly of typical British café style food and drinks, and everything we sell is available all day every day. The only days we close are Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year's Day meaning that if you're in Selby on a Sunday, when most other cafés are closed, or for one of the very popular Bank Holiday markets you can still visit us. Although we do feel that our menu caters to most tastes, if you don't see what you want please ask us and we'll do our best to help.

We are looking for a catering assistant to work Tuesday to Friday from 10am to 2pm (or potentially 3pm on busy days).
In addition, there are occasional extra hours to cover holidays/illness.
The job involves clearing and cleaning tables, washing pots (dishwasher available, training will be given) and stacking clean pots. There will be the opportunity to work in other areas of the cafe, training would be provided for this.
You will have a mature, friendly and hard working attitude. You must be reliable and ideally have previous experience of working in a busy cafe. Availability to work extra hours at short notice is an advantage.
The position is available to start immediately.

Hi, from all the staff at The Hub, we hope you've had a great Christmas and are looking forward to 2022.

Please see the attached picture for a change to our opening hours in the next few days. We have taken the difficult decision to stay closed on Sunday January 2nd. Please accept our apologies for any inconvenience caused.

With the steady reduction in new Coronavirus cases over the last couple of weeks we've decided that now is the time to get the cafe back to its normal layout. So from Monday 2nd August we'll have the comfy chairs back in place and the layout will be back to how it was before the pandemic.

We would however ask customers wherever possible to continue wearing masks when moving around the cafe and to maintain social distancing.

Thank you for following the guidelines so far and for continuing to support us through what has been a difficult time for everyone.

We are looking forward to getting back to normal!

COVID REGULATIONS UPDATE

As you are aware the revised government guidelines will remove the need for any social distancing from Monday 19th July.

However, in light of the rapidly increasing number of COVID cases in the area we have reluctantly decided to retain our current layout inside the café in the short term.

Our first priority is the protection of our customers and staff and we therefore feel that continuing with the current layout for the immediate future is key.

We will keep the situation under constant review and hopefully get back to normal within the next few weeks.

We are looking to recruit someone to work every Saturday from 10am to 4pm. There will be the opportunity to do additional hours to cover staff holidays and other busy periods (mainly during school holidays).
The job role will involve clearing tables, cleaning and washing pots (dishwasher available). For anyone interested there may be the opportunity to learn other aspects of the business.
It is very important that you enjoy interacting with people as a key aspect of the job is excellent customer service. We are a very friendly, sociable café.
The ideal candidate will be very reliable, hard working, have a mature attitude and able to act on their own initiative.
Previous experience is preferred but not essential.
The job is available immediately.

We're finally allowed to have customers back inside from Monday so come and see us, we're open from 8am till 4pm.

As before there will be reduced seating capacity for the next few weeks, and so the screens will remain in place for now.

Its still important to maintain social distancing in the cafe and while queueing and, as before, please don't sit down at a table until you've ordered at the counter.
