Since June 2022 Re:store Axe Valley CIC and The Community Waffle House CIC have been working together to create a welcoming community café hub on site at Seaton Hospital. Over the last 2 ½ years we have had the privilege to utilise this space, serving the local community, hospital staff and patients alike.
In this time we have been kindly supported by NHS property who have covered many of the costs associated with the space. These costs are soon to be increased which means that the situation is no longer sustainable for Waffle to operate within the space and therefore, sadly, Waffle will be leaving the café hub by mid-January 2025.
It has been a fantastic journey for us as a partnership; turning an empty damp kitchen into a wonderful environment for the local community and for people to use throughout the week.
We want to especially thank Sue, our wonderful Café Manager, and all the members of staff at the hospital who have made the last couple of years so much fun. Waffle and Re:store will continue to work together on a project basis
Re:store Axe Valley CIC will continue to host Citizens Advice, support groups (for families and youth), befriending, reading with Seaton primary and some new exciting partnerships, as they continue to offer services through the space which will benefit the health and wellbeing of the Seaton community. The first of these new projects will be working with Sustainable Project Live CIC to become the home to Seaton Radio station, a service which will, among other things, share vital information to the community through the airwaves.
Re:store recognise the importance of the café hub at Seaton Hospital, and fully intend to continue this service in some capacity.
We’d love to encourage you to please continue to support both organisations in their work and feel free to reach out if you have any questions or suggestions about the space going forward.
